Resumen del Editor

In March 2009 British conservative Daniel Hannan became an overnight celebrity when he assailed Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the floor of the European parliament. The YouTube clip went viral, leading to whirlwind appearances on FOX and other conservative media outlets. A thoughtful and articulate spokesman for conservative ideas, Hannan is better versed in America's traditions and founding documents than many Americans are.

In The New Road to Serfdom, Hannan argues forcefully and passionately that Americans must not allow Barack Obama to take us down the road to EU-style social democracy. Instead, he pleads with Americans not to abandon the founding principles that made their country a beacon of liberty for the rest of the world.

Recovering Troglodyte

After completing the book I was saddened to realize just how frost bitten my thoughts were on the uniqueness of my own country, when presented the through the eyes of British politician. Thanks for the great read... Message received.

A brilliant warning to Americans flirting with European ideals

Daniel Hannan is among one of the worlds most refreshing conservative voices.

This book is a well written and timely warning to Americans about the dangers of seeing themselves as "just another country".

A fantastic, honest and intellectual appraisal of US exceptionalism, it's democratic roots, and the extraordinary peril of losing it.

This could not come at a more important moment in history.

Thanks Daniel, I enjoyed it the first time I heard it also.

A Warning

A Warning is needed and needs to be heeded. The book is insightful and is full of history of the past and present on both sides of the pond. The lamb is being led to the slaughter but if the lamb reads this book among others we might turn this country around. An enjoy reading read. I intend to reread and take notes this time to allow the information to sink into my mind.

Every American Needs to Read This!

This is a must listen for any man or woman who loves America and wants to know what is in our immediate future, unless we wake up and regain control of our country, it's government to stop the insane deficit spending and obscene taxation.

Manditory reading for all Americans

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is an absolute must listen to for all Americans. We live in a great country and are in danger of letting our political establishment ruin us and turn us into a socialest Euro-state.

A warning to thinking Americans

Daniel Hannon has with great literary skill articulated the reasons why all Americans must link their political thoughts to their constitutional history and oppose any attempt by wild eyed Democratic Socialists Marxists or others to attenuate these God-given freedoms

A Necessary Irony

It's ironic that a Brit needs to remind Americans of why and how this country and its basic principles should be cherished. His warning to us to not devolve into what Britain and the Eurozone have become and pointing out those warning signals evident in the US today should cause thoughtful Americans to take note.

This book is great civics lesson and a wake up call for those Americans who've lost touch with what makes the US a beacon of liberty and hope.

An excellent read from a brilliant man...

Dan Hannan is a wonderful historian, a bright politician, and an eloquint spokesman for conservative thought. My introduction to Mr. Hannan was like many others here in America, the sharp rant he levelled at Gordon Brown at the European Parliment. As a fan of freedom and democracy myself, and an affection for all things Brittish, I followed his exploits on Youtube. Hannan is by far the most clear thinking, and articulate politician in Europe. This book is well researched, well put together, and well narrated (although, sadly, not by Dan himself). Anyone who sees the United States moving toward the untennable socialism of Europe will enjoy this book immensely, as Hannan brilliantly lays out the reasons "why not". You will love this book, if you are not familiar with his work as a Member of the European Parliment, see his Youtube channel, it will give you some insight into the man. Enjoy...

The Dangers of Centralized Government

Illustrates clearly the loss of freedom of the electorate and inability to solve society's problems when governed by a large centralized bureaucratic organization. In contrast, it clearly teaches the great benefits associated with Republican form of government whereas the best governing and problem solving occurs at the local and state level with limited authority at the federal level. Also clearly teaches the dangers to freedom in allowing non elected officials to dictate laws and regulations. many great examples provided. I haven't read a better argument for smaller limited government than what is presented in this book. If only every voter in America understood the principles in this book, think of the greatness this republic could achieve.
