Wonderfully written short history of the 1910 to 1918 revolution(s) in Mexico. Still listening to this audible.

This definitely filled the gaps for me

I was going through another book of the entire history of Mexico. The topic of the revolution could not be covered in such great detail. I'm sure this title left out quite a bit it it filled in many gaps. I'll try a more exhaustive book later.

The reader could've made a little effort in pronouncing the names. It was massacre lol.

Good novel

Interesting perspective on revolution from a man who witnessed it as a medic. Good novel if you are curious about Mexico and its history. Sparks curiosity.

Don’t have readers who speak Spanish - It’s the LAW!

This is not the first Mexican history that I have read for which the reader butchers some or all place names. In this case the reader was pretty good, but a review of Spanish pronunciations would have been the one of the first orders of buns ones if you are going to read a book about the history of Mexico.

Pronunciation

I understand if you have an accent saying words in another language but this guy mispronounced so badly that words/names were completely unrecognizable. I’m bilingual and know some of these names and had to rewind it a couple times. The story made up for it. It was clear and concise

I think this audiobook does excellent job of giving a brief history of The Mexican Revolution with a lot of detail. The Mexican Revolution is a very complex and complex story to understand fully. This audiobook excellent.

Brings the Revolution alive

The author observed the Mexican Revolution first hand and brings history to life in this novel that depicts ordinary men who become extraordinary fighters. The author depicts the reality of the war without idealizing or glamorizing its characters. Excellent footnotes help the listener understand the shifting politics of the war.
