My first time

I had never heard a story like this before, I was hooked. The narrator has a voice that I felt I could listen to as if he weee my neighbor. I can’t wait for more!!

Diary of an old man

This story Had great potential but has no closure at all. There are a lot of repeated thought sequences.

Interesting, also slightly depressing

I do not typically like books that are on the depressing side, but I actually liked this one. The major gripe I have is the audiobook voice performance was inconsistent. I don't know if that was on purpose, I can't see why it would be, it was a bit off-putting.

it's okay

I don't know what I was expecting after listening to "The Last Teacher". that was an amazing book. This book however is very fuzzy, no real climax or goal. Overall I wouldn't read it again.

Very interesting but what's the point.

This is a great idea, well written and the performance was great. But it is droning on and on and I can only listen to someones self deception for so long. The daily account of an old man with no hope is only interesting for a limited amount of time. This would of been a fine short story but hours and hours of the enevitable end got tedious. Maybe there was an exciting ending but I couldn't get there.

Probably the most important book I've ever read

It's not often that I get to read fiction where the point of the story is the questions one is forced to ask oneself as they read. For sure, certain plot elements do not hold up to scrutiny, but a more introspective reader will understand that the plot is merely a vehicle for the question that so many are afraid to confront - When all the world has failed... when wealth has no meaning and we are presented with an end that we cannot avoid... what do we become? What do we hope for, when living itself is an exercise in futility? What do we live for, when there will be no one left to remember?

I would recommend this book for anyone who seeks a look at the darkest of all possible futures, and the weight of living through it.

Different

This story is definitely post apocalyptic, but so different. And that's the point. I liked it and didn't like it. The main character is not out there battling zombies, marauding cannibals or nuclear winter. His struggle is in his mind and memories. I admit I kept waiting for more to happen. But this might very well be how the world ends... with a long, drawn out whimper instead of a cataclysmic boom.

Just as wonderful as reading the novel!

Listening to this novel was as wonderful as reading the novel had been! Already have the second novel/Audiobook downloaded to listen to next.

Wow, what a great story.

This book has been on my wish list for some time. I'm not exactly sure why I put off getting this book, but now that I've listened to the novel, it has become one of my favorites. This is a mature and enthralling story in the vein of The Road by Cormac McCarthy, The Martian by Andy Weir or the movie Cast Away.

Awesome book!

Completely engaging and informative! I can't wait to get the next one! Really makes me think about how all this world will end!
