It was an interesting read. The fact that they knew but said nothing. I wonder how true it was

Would you consider the audio edition of The Lodger to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lodger?

Enjoyed the whole thing but the Wax Museum was very suspenseful.

What about Lorna Raver’s performance did you like?

I loved the way she changed her voice and accent for each character. It made the reading come alive. She put so much feeling into it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but, unfortunately, I couldn't.

Excellent!

I can honestly say this was a surprisingly good book. The story is a classic (adapted into an Alfred Hitchcock silent film a century ago). But the performance was top notch. For a free audiobook, that was truly surprising. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen!

What an excellent book!

This was a lovely listen, if such a word can be used to describe underpinnings that are quite gruesome, but never dwelled on excessively. The narrator has an engaging voice with subtle yet consistent changes for different characters, and her accent made the listen that much more enjoyable.

One thing that's not clear from many of the reviews is that this book was written in 1913. It's an enjoyable book, well written and with a very good narrator. However, the book is nearly a century old, and it shows. I enjoy classic literature, but was expecting a story with a more modern style.

A Classic Story

I really enjoyed this well written suspense. It's easy to symphathize with the characters' predictament and the story kept my interest right to the end. Would love more like this one.

Very Entertaining

The audio version of this book is something I re-read each Fall. Deliciously creepy.

Lorna Raver offers a masterful reading of this early 20th-century novella. Raver's delivery is virtually flawless--both her narration, and her enactment of the various characters.

Heading across the pond for the first time in my life and I wanted a fun, fictional, Ripper story. I intend on reading some of the factual books, but The Lodger was just the thing to whet my appetite for more.

I liked it

What did you love best about The Lodger?

I just loved the overall feeling of suspense. And it just grows and grows. I had to turn my IPod off a few times because of the building tension.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think the female lead. I was easy to sympathise with her plight. and I thought, "what would I do if I were in her shoes?"

What does Lorna Raver bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I did not personally "read" the book. But I think Lorna Raver id a great job. she represented all characters very well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I couldn't. like I said. The elevating tension was too much for me!

Any additional comments?

no, just this was a great book. And listen with the lights on!

Creepy Fun!
