Well written and performed sucking the reader or listener into the story until you can't put it down

Another great listen

Excellent tale that weaves into Tess's past. Her unorthodox investigation puts her in extreme danger and has her questioning her own motives.

Excellent Character Study Enlivens Mystery

I’ve been enjoyably making my way though the Tess Monaghan mysteries and “The Last Place” is one of Laura Lippman’s best.
Mysteries often fall short on character development. “The Last Place” is an exception. The former toll booth cop and the killer are very well developed and their psychology is astute.
The narrator is perfect. She changes charter like a chameleon and her throaty voice is perfect for a neo- noir.

Enjoyed this book a lot!

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. The characters are likable, and the plots are unusual. The books definitely entertain me. I save my four and five star reviews for the can't put them down, page turners. So, the three stars is good in my opinion. The narrator does an outstanding job.

Reliably Lippmann

Standard Lippmann: Baltimore, crabs, mystery, murder, mayhem, and Crow. Loved it as an old Baltimore resident, many twists and turns.

Entertaining

My first by Laura Lippmann. Nicely written, well read by the ever-reliable Barbara Rosenblat and entertaining enough for me to check out more of her stuff. True to the formula that you find in most female driven detective novels, but more skillfully done than many I've slogged through. Enjoyable, not too deep, didn't insult my intelligence. Worth a credit.

Awful narration

I love the Tess Monighan books but Barbara Rosenblat makes them excruciating to listen to. She is so dry, slow, awkward pauses.

Read Tess Monaghan series in order for best experience! I also get to look forward to watching The Wire
