Heartbreaking

I love the writing. It is authentically southern genre. However, it is a sad, heart-wrenching, and infuriating story. But it is based on a dark truth. I had hoped there would be retribution, but at least Leah finds comfort and some peace in the end. The narrator’s voice was a perfect choice for Church’s character.

Hooked from the start

Meagan Church has an amazing way of hooking you from the very beginning. I was hooked and can honestly said cried at times in this book. Very well written and the narrator was amazing! Look forward to more from Meagan

Narrator was terrible. Her accent was garbage. It was very distracting so much that I couldn’t get into the story. Which I’m sure would have been a pretty good story if not for this trash narrator

beautifully written and narrated

this book was very touching and beautifully told. The main character was so strong.

Personally chocked with emotion

I spent time in a foster home and Megan Church’s Leah character possessed a strength that I know was needed to evoke the forward looking aspect of her resolve to survive and thrive without losing ‘her’. The Mrs. Griffith character caused me goose bumps, she was real. Kudos to Megan Church for tackling this subject and beautifully illustrating grace in strength.

Still can’t believe this story kept my attention I couldn’t put it down… WHAT A GREAT STORY!!!

Excellent story

The story was brilliantly told, it was sad but had a lovely ending. I highly recommend it.

WOW

Holy moly guacamole! This is a story! The beginning is kind of slow but the storyline picks up overtime. Over the course of two days, this book consumed my thoughts and I’m sure it will linger even longer in my mind.
Please note that this is mostly a heartbreaking tale but the ending picks up your spirit a little.

It’s been a while since a book had this much of an impact on me. I highly recommend it.

Sad story based on a shameful practice

This story is sad from start to almost the end. Spoiler: there is a semi HEA, but nothing could undo the forced sterilization that was performed on Leah in the name of social purity ( sounds suspiciously like the Nazis, doesn’t it ). The story does move a bit slowly, and the characterization isn’t very subtle; Mrs. Griffin is evil to the core. As always, Susan Bennett is an excellent narrator.
