Resumen del Editor

A spine-tingling nightmare reawakened with a new recording & new narrator.

Joanna Rand left the U.S. ten years ago to sing in a Japanese nightclub. Ever since, she’s been haunted by the same horrifying nightmare. Each time she awakens, she feels violated, used, and scared. The only man who can help her is Alex Hunter. Ten years ago, he saw her picture in the papers as a senator’s daughter who’d disappeared. Now he has to bring her memories back to her - memories of a past more terrifying than they dreamed possible...

really good!

i’m just lately becoming a koontz fan, as i’ve forever been diehard king, but to the person who said this book is only worth the credit if you’re a hard core DK fan i say, whatever! and also, plz 🤨
this story may not have had a supernatural element, but it was still gripping and intense! a lot of twists you won’t see coming, and i especially liked the ending!
as for Caitlin Kelly, well, i’ve loved her since the first Mystic Caravan book, so it was wonderful getting to see/hear her take on something in this genre. simply phenomenal! her Japanese accent is on point, and the different voices she does are always believable. you will absolutely forget that you’re listening to one person, not a full cast!
she is, as always, a 5⭐️ voice actor!!
loved it all!💞

Interesting twist in this Dean Koontz novel.

The story is good Dean Koontz. It is a little slow in getting too much of the action that we enjoy, but the surprising twists are enjoyable.
We both thought it was a little mushy at times. But overall deserving of a 4 1/2 star rating.

We still miss the odd Thomas series.

DK's first book (originally published in 1979)

The first commercial success for Dean Koontz. This is NOT new material (quite the opposite). Originally published via pseudonym, so publication might precede 1979. Still an interesting listen. Definitely a Mystery. Nothing remotely supernatural here.. It's worth the Kindle price. Don't expect the quality or vibe of "Strangers", "Intensity" or any other of his best early novels. The Kyoto setting is enjoyable, different. It's *only* worth a credit if you're the most hardcore fan. 5 stars for Caitlin Kelly's narration!

Enjoyable lisy

I just downloaded the book because it was a Dean Koontz novel that I had not read yet. I was expecting something supernatural. this is not that it's more of espionage and intrigue. that being said, I still enjoyed it very much. not my favorite Dean Koontz novel, but it was a really good one.

This doesn’t achieve the originality typical of Koontz.

The plot was like a 007 meets Jason Bourne movie…all romantic spin and government intrigue.
Kind of disappointing for a Dean Koontz novel, which is usually fairly mind bending.

I’ll look for a better Koontz novel to listen to.

Never fails with Koontz

Koontz has always been my favorite author and was thrilled I would be able to read his latest endeavor. I found this maybe not one of my favorites but most definitely one that had me on the edge and constantly trying to figure out what and why this was done and then hoping it couldn't be.

very good I'll round it to 5 I give it like 4.4 or 4.5 maybe.

I wish they had them go back to Japan and her remember her past. alot of unexpected things happen really made.me think. it had a alot of similarities like night chills and house of thunder combined. both of them were goos too. I think this story was somonewhat better and the character development of these two are probably my favorite of his books so far other than laura Shane and stephan crager from lighting. so I guess lighting is still the best koontz book out of the 6 I read but this one comes very close. this would definitely come in 2nd place now. I wish they gave a little more detail on cararea in the book too what was his role was he just a hit man ? I still think my most hated character is Salisbury from night chills but this had a lot of dislike left people too. I also wish Alex said I love you or visit the states, maybe say who stabbed him in the hotel. so I wonder if the original novel that took out alot had more detail. but I still loved the story. I could have rounded it down to a 4 but I'll round it up I guess.

WHAT?

What is happening Mr. Koontz? You are one of my favorite authors. I am returning this because I have tried to at least give it to the middle of the book but, I've lost interest in your story line. Missing my pup author again.

a different tracp foe Dean

until the last quarter of the book, it seemed very un Koontz like. just a different type of story, but seemed to lack his the depth and vividness of his prior work.
