  • The Work Podcast Episode 52 - No Short Cuts
    Apr 10 2026

This episode was a bit more off-the-cuff, but honestly, that’s where some of the most real conversations happen. We started out talking about conversations with people who see the world completely differently—whether that’s vegans, opposing ideologies, or just people outside your normal circle. And the big takeaway is simple: we need more of that. Not echo chambers. Not algorithms telling you what to think. Real dialogue. Because right now, most people aren’t actually thinking for themselves—they’re outsourcing their opinions to headlines, social media, and whatever narrative is trending.

That led us into a deeper conversation about philosophy, and honestly, that’s the stuff that fires me up more than anything. Training, nutrition—that’s all important—but learning how to think is the real foundation. Because once you lose that, you start chasing shortcuts, hacks, and quick fixes in every area of life. And the truth is, anything I’m actually proud of—anything that’s lasted—came from time, effort, and consistency. There’s no hack for that. You can’t fake it, you can’t shortcut it, and trying to usually just puts you further behind in the long run.

So we’re doubling down on that mindset—both in life and in training. Moving away from what’s trendy and easy, and leaning into what actually works, even if it’s harder. More volume, more effort, more intention. Same thing applies outside the gym too—whether it’s parenting, health, or building something meaningful. The world is obsessed with fast results and surface-level wins, but that’s a race to the bottom. If you want something real—strength, health, legacy—you’ve got to play the long game. No shortcuts.

So happy to hear this episode, of course I wish I heard it several years ago. so glad someone is shedding light on this subject.
I was diagnosed with Small fiber Peripheral Nueropathy so when I had chronic itching in random but symmetrically in the same place in both feet I didn't think there was anything I could do. As I was healing through carnivore diet the Chronic itching isolated itself to the topside base of my toes and would drive me crazy...
I and others I talked to (obiviously not doctors) always assumed bunions was a lump on the footage had no idea it was the protrusion of the deformity of the toe itself.
so I decided to order silicon toe spacers from Amazon and some cheap barefoot shoes built up to where I could where them every day...in 2 months time I had been completely pain and itch free.
I had been to several doctors for my chronic unexplained symptoms and I feel once you get a diagnoses such as fibromyalgia or SFPN they stop caring to look any further or provide any non medicated solutions.
I learned so much in this episode like all your epidodes.

There was some logic to My madness!
