Resumen del Editor

The Immortality Blues opens on New Earth where we find Vito Martino, immortal after his life was saved by the super being Defender-11.

But pondering living on while his friends and family members age and die has put him in a funk.

So, Defender-11attempts to cheer him up by sending Vito on multiple missions, back in time on Earth where he will witness history and attempt to undo some of the wrongs the evil one, Defender-4, had done in the past.

Vito meets famous people and others, influencing history in subtle and surprising ways. Founding fathers? Check. Jesus Christ? Of course. Inimitably, Vito's interactions with benevolent and malevolent beings combine humor, savvy, and action.

Upnick connects these adventures with episodes from the five previous books in the Time Will Tell series.

Through time and space, friendships endure through danger and joy. Upnick's memorable characters make The Immortality Blues a gripping continuation of his epic series.

Action from page 1

As always, I have to state that this book was given to me for free in exchange for a review.
I always like to state that this does not impact my review or my opinion of the book. My reviews are honest and my own opinion of the story, performance, and overall thoughts on the book.

There is action from the beginning, I enjoyed the first half of this book and thought this might have become my favorite in the series so far, but then I slowly went off it and felt it lost its momentum a bit, for me.

I really enjoyed this.

I scored a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I really liked it. Without realizing it was Book 6 i listened to it and enjoyed it enough that I pan to go back and get the other five and listen to them from the beginning! My only complaint is that is was too short! I wanted more!

Well done, thumbs up!

History Hoping Fun

This is my first book in the series, and it was amazing, I could follow along without getting lost in this history hoping fun SciFi. The Narration was amazing as well and did a great job with all of the characters. So go ahead and dive into this fun series.

At the time of this review, Audible did not have chapter titles for this title.

This title was provided free for review, however, this review is my honest thoughts and opinions.

Journeys through Time and Space

Once again, the old gang gets together to take on evil defenders in this story which trips through time and space with wild abandon. Cameo appearances by Ben Franklin and Jesus himself feature in a light-hearted space and time opera.
Over the course of the series I've come to love the characters - both human and alien, and their devil-may-care attitude toward saving the galaxy and recovering from monumental hangovers. Serious science this isn't, but if you're looking for a fun read in the post-earth future, you might just find what you're looking for on New Earth.

Time Travel to Cheer Up Depression?

Vito is an immortal on New Earth, who is depressed that friends and family will age and die while he does not. So Defender-11 sends him on some short time travel missions to fix things that were messed up by Defender-4.
I have not read the previous books in this series. I got this from Audiobook Boom not realizing it was book 6 in a series, but that really didn't make much difference in my listen. Overall, an interesting series and premise. However, I found the writing and dialogue a little spare, and not well developed. The dialogue did not sound like people really speak, much of it was just throw-away lines or one liner jokes in between bits of narration. The narrator explained what was going on, mostly told in the present tense, and the dialogue was there to throw in the jokes. I found this rather odd, it seemed like watching Rocky & Bullwinkle, where the narrator and dialogue was done this way.
I also found it a little strange and off-putting that characters in the 1750's were cussing like modern day people. I don't think people would have flung the f word so casually in those days. Also, there was a character who was a black man in 1750 and it was never explained why he was free and not a slave. Much of the book was like that, missing explanations that would make the story make more sense.
As for the narration, Schrader was pretty good. But all I could picture in my head for Vito was Sylvester Stallone, because Schrader used a voice pretty much like Stallone's for the character. It made Vito come across as a stereotypical dumb Italian and not very bright.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Careful what you wish for, as you just may get it

After having listened to the whole series (so far) back to back, I find that I really enjoy Eddie’s writing but it really is the narrator that can make or break a good story. Henry Schrader does an excellent job bringing this story to life. Loved the voices and the pacing he brought to this story.

You really do need to start at the beginning, as with most series, to get the most out of this story. You can still listen to most books of this series as a standalone just because of how they are written. But you will miss some of the finer points while wondering who is who as there are many supporting characters in this generational series.

This book brings to life the idea of “be careful what you wish for, as you just may get it!” Many wish for long life but fail to consider what the consequences of that long life might be.

There was one area of this book that I did have an issue with. The author is obviously not a Christian but lots of people look at time travel as a way to research important historical figures. One of the most researched would be Jesus Christ. Was he a real person and what did he really think and believe. I think this book was very consistent in its portrayal of Jesus, not consistent with history but consistent with the story. The problem came with his portrayal of who the people around Jesus were. A little more research could have been very helpful here. A very minor point of the story but for someone familiar with the Bible accounts, was very disturbing in its inaccuracies.

Overall a great story in a great series. Will definitely be looking for the next book as this is obviously not over yet.
