Resumen del Editor
Chance Jameson, an almost-13-year-old orphan, discovers he is a natural-born leader when Oak Hill Orphanage is faced with a terrible crisis. Miss May, the much-loved orphanage director, dies in a freak accident, leaving the orphanage in the hands of the greedy, ruthless Whipley twins. Their only goal is to use the orphans as a slave labor force.
Much to his surprise, Chance finds that he can see and communicate with the ghost of Miss May. Through teamwork, they devise a daring scheme to free Oak Hill from the clutches of the wicked twins.
With clever trickery, a few supernatural forces, and the help of all the orphans, they stage a fabulous haunting. The outcome is thrilling, and the victorious orphans reclaim Oak Hill, the best orphanage in the world.

Historia
Erin Coleridge's used bookstore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England, is a meeting place for the villagers and, in particular, for the local Jane Austen Society. At the Society's monthly meeting, matters come to a head between the old guard and its young turks. After the meeting breaks for tea, persuasion gives way to murder with extreme prejudice when president Sylvia Pemberthy falls dead to the floor. Poisoned? Presumably, but by whom? And was Sylvia the only target?

Historia
This collection of essays observes the perils of motherhood, wifehood, selfhood, and other assorted challenges. Since its publication in 1957, it has sold millions of copies and has been adapted into a Broadway play, a film, a TV series, and now an audiobook. Jean Kerr's parodies of the clichéd 1950s prescription for glamorous or maternal feminine behavior still resonate today as we enter the 21st century.

On-the-edge-of-your-seat Adventure
Ms. Fulton has written a lovely old-fashioned adventure, with a 12-year-old boy as the hero. The characters, without the illustrations in the book, are still easy to visualize. Happy, clever, helpful ghosts and devious villains add twists and turns to the plot. Children in the orphanage, with 12-year-old Chance as the hero, weave their way from a challenging situation to eradicating the evil directors. A great experience for middle grade children: listening to this 'good wins out over evil' story. I, too, as an adult, enjoyed listening while in the kitchen making goodies.
