FIND OUT WHAT IS NEXT FOR STRIKE AND ROBIN

A dismembered corpse is discovered in the vault of a silver shop. The police initially believe it to be that of a convicted armed robber - but not everyone agrees with that theory. One of them is Decima Mullins, who calls on the help of private detective Cormoran Strike as she's certain the body in the silver vault was that of her boyfriend - the father of her newborn baby - who suddenly and mysteriously disappeared.

The more Strike and his business partner Robin Ellacott delve into the case, the more labyrinthine it gets. The silver shop is no ordinary one: it's located beside Freemasons' Hall and specialises in Masonic silverware. And in addition to the armed robber and Decima's boyfriend, it becomes clear that there are other missing men who could fit the profile of the body in the vault.

As the case becomes ever more complicated and dangerous, Strike faces another quandary. Robin seems increasingly committed to her boyfriend, policeman Ryan Murphy, but the impulse to declare his own feelings for her is becoming stronger than ever.

A gripping, wonderfully complex novel which takes Strike and Robin's story to a new level, The Hallmarked Man is an unmissable read for any fan of this unique series.©2025 Robert Galbraith Limited (P)2025 Hachette Audio UK

Can Robin and Strike now get on with it 🤣 Please! I feel like throttling both of them

I just love the way she writes and the huge amount of research that JK must do.

I think it’s the worst of all the books with Cormoran Strike. No spoilers. I always waited for the previous parts of the story . After this one, I feel bad and don't want to read the next one.

I’m tired of the series

I really love the Strike books, and this was long awaited! But sorry to say, the storyline was to intricate and complicated with way too many names and characters. I had to listen to several chapters over again just to hang onto the storyline.

What I did like after, all the back-and-forth with the main characters, which continued in this book as well - we finally got some progress, even though it ended on a cliffhanger, again.

Can’t wait for the next book!

Long and complicated

I loved Robin in previous books, but in this one - I cannot stand her. Same mistakes over and over again. Her relation with Corm? After 31 hours of book (too long if you ask me) we are at start. No change whatsoever. Mystery too complicated and not enought interesting. Sorry, the previous one was great.

Long for nothing

As always Robert Galbraith like the preceding books this one has a fabulous plot full of twists ands turns. As for the Robyn & Strike relationship, I got a bit fed up even though it really was in keeping with their personal history. Now I wait for a year or more to find out what the heck happens between them.

I love the twist and turns

The mystery plot and investigation was A+.
The romance is being stretched and milked so much it's become boring. (what's in the next book? A misunderstanding, a resolution at the end)
Spoilers ahead.
What I've always enjoyed in this series is the way you get the story, the investigation, the breakthroughs, and the daily life through both of their points of view. It feels quite unique to have such an inside view from the main characters that isn't limited to just "the case". It goes into family drama and daily stuff (Robin's fam, the interesting step one in Strike's relationship with his father, the fish tank in the office, the struggle to find gifts for people, how to turn down heavy handed flirting, etc... )
But when it is stretched over several books into a romantic will they won't they... *eyeroll*
If the characters are utterly miserable for half a book in a story told like that... it makes for a very unpleasant read. Because it's there in living color. So I'm not gonna read this one again. Which I'd usually do because they're so well written.
Just... If you're afraid it'll be the end of the series... Just don't make it a romance. And be done with it. There is still a lot more inner dialog to have beyond that. This is starting to read like a TV show with a declining audience that's desperately trying to find a way to not resolve the romance plot. - __ -

This decision to take on a case in order to cause a rift between Robinson and Strike seem a bit out of character for him. Moreover Robins inability to grasp her situation regarding men is almost infuriating to witness. OK, still recovering from her time in the cult explains it partly but somehow it takes Stryker to get her to realize that she is heading for the same disaster with her boyfriend as with her ex husband. Somehow the private lives of the duo is overriding the crime detection. The crime plot is way too complicated.

Private Lives or Serious Detection?

I enjoyed this so much!! Keeps you guessing all the time and packed full, no padding. Can’t wait for the next book!!

Just great!!

I didn't like the plot very much. Too unrealistic and forcefully complicated. It felt too long, self repeating and chaotic. Overall, it comes short when compared to the previous few books.

It wss worse than the previous books

I've always enjoyed how she sketches characters and society, with the obvious, the undertones, the bizarre, the powerful intuitions.
