Resumen del Editor

"Absolutely gripping… blew me away… Words can’t describe how good this book is." (Heidi Lynn's Book Reviews)

The USA TODAY top 100 best-seller you won’t want to miss!

The high chair lay on its side, a toy elephant and a crumpled green blanket scattered across the floor beside it.

“She had a baby? Is it-?”

“The baby’s gone.”

When Detective Josie Quinn is called to a large house on the outskirts of the small town of Denton, she’s horrified by the viciousness of the attack - smashed glass, splintered furniture, and blood spattered across the floor. The owner, a single mother, is fighting for her life, and her newborn baby is missing.

A beautiful young woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie’s only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn’t know who she is, where she’s from or why she’s so terrified....

Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim?

As Josie digs deeper, a letter found hidden in the house convinces her the attack, the missing child, and the nameless woman are linked to a spate of killings across the county, and Josie is faced with a heart-breaking decision....

Should she risk the life of one child to save many others? Or can she find another way to stop this killer before any more innocent lives are taken?

Nail-biting, twisty, and impossible to put down. If you love gripping thrillers from Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni, and Rachel Caine, you’ll be absolutely hooked!

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Anyone who knows me gets that I really like a strong, female, kickass main character and that’s exactly what I got in Josie Quinn.... The plot motors along at breakneck speed often leaving me holding my breath. I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next instalment." (Angela Marsons, best-selling author of Silent Scream)

Narrator is ruining her books!

I listened to first book in this series & tolerated this narrator through it. Can’t even finish 2nd one. Stories are good though. I’ve listened to anywhere from 5-10 books per month from Audible for past several years. Usually ignore and roll my eyes at negative comments about the narrator, but, this one is unbearable. I saw the bad reviews for this narrator on the 1st book. Just as many bad reviews for her on 2nd and 3rd book in this series. If a good author really wants to promote their books, why in the world would you keep using a narrator whom so many of your readers complain about??

OK story😏

The story held together pretty well
BUT—-the narration was the WORST. It’s one thing if she was trying to give the characters a local slang. But she mispronounced so many words I started to laugh. But then it was so distracting it was difficult to actually make it to the end.

Can't stick with this narrator

Like for so many other listeners, the narrator of the first 3 Josie Quinn books, Eilidh Beaton, is ruining these books for me. Apparently she's Scottish and trying to speak with an American English voice. She mispronounces so many words, I'm distracted. I find myself listening for them. Thankfully, the producers change the narrator to Kate Handford with books 4-8 and she's very good. But I can't continue with Beaton. I wonder if there were enough comments that they finally got the message. Do producers listen to these books?

I'm not even sure if the book's any good. I can't keep my mind on the plot.

I'm sending them back. Too bad, I was looking forward to them.

Story was good but the narrator was not

The narration was difficult to listen too. Certain words were just butchered and others continuously mispronounced. I did power through and finished the book, the story was pretty good.

Great listen; but a few narration quirks

I have thoroughly enjoyed the series so far. My only complaint is the narrator pronounces words “wrong” (like bourbon, OBGYN). She also says “anything” or “everything” a lot in this book, and the narrator pronounces those words uniquely. That’s been distracting to me.

Story=Great ... Narrator=Terrible

I’m not sure why after so many bad reviews, they kept using this narrator... I am going to try to get thru the 3rd book in hopes that the rest are far batter once this narrator is gone.. The story was great though..

Who is the Father?

The author did an excellent job of creating tthe characters , and being able to feel you knew them..at times , there were too manycharacters and itgot confusing. I !istened to the audio book, and if reading it , it might not have been confusing. The parrts where the mystery of pregnancy, who was the father, was the father certinly held my attention. One of the main characters started out with me thinking he was the antagonist, but at the end, he had turned out to have gained some of my respect, but wasn't a person of character.
The book is a good read, unlike many books, not a lot of profanity, nor sex.
I would recommend reading it.

Good story, but the narration was very distracting.

Enjoyed the story, but is there no producer to catch the mispronounced words? (That would be mis-pronn-ounced.) The narrator has a great voice. Her character voices are great but the "mis-pronn-ounced" words will probably make me stop on this book. I wish I could conn-tribute more, but I can't think of enething else.

Narration obscures story

Good story, but the narrator’s many mispronunciations of common words is distracting and annoying. Pot-o-mac River? Yoggurt? Et for ate? So many more. I’ll read rather than listen to the next book in the series.

Great story, terrible narrator....

Great mystery but once again the narration is distracting. The mispronounced words throughout this audio is almost laughable. I'm not sure who "proof listens" to audio books before they're released for purchase, but whoever it is needs to find a new job! Please Lisa Regan....find a new narrator for your excellent books!!!
