This is seriously crystalized, evidence based, and falsifiable knowledge from an economist who's really clued-in to present day world, wants everyone to prosper, with fair policies.

Must read book for every person who makes decisions.

A central theme is "reciprocal obligations" aka Dharma, which also might entice people to read the book. And they must - this will probably be the first book I buy and gift to people. Probably going to buy a few dozen copies and just hand them out.

relevant to current financial climate, this book does a complete break down of how we got to where we are and some solutions and mindset shifts that will move us past these dark times

I'm glad that I decided to purchase this. I learned the issue of laissez-faire government which can destroy economies. Where are the new responsible leaders?

Best Book I've Read/Heard in Years

Constant (good) discomfort from seeing how my own ideology prevented logical and rational thought. 10/10

I found the narrators voice very rasp and distracting. Book want really realistic in everything it suggested would need a while culture reset

Public Administration

For those who think on becoming a public administrator, this is an excellent for you. Sir Collier addresses not only the current anxieties that affects the capitalism as well as presents solutions for them. I can't wait to start hearing the Bottom Billion too.

Ok

The book was decent and there are some ideas that I can get on board with, but as the author points out a few times many of his ideas have been attempted just to be shot down by other powers that be and intellectuals for number of different reasons.

Part of the problem with this book is it spends several chapters reasoning for new taxes, without addressing the main grievances for why this isn't a solution - the government doesn't spend our money properly. Until agencies, bureaucracies, and waste are addressed can anything in this book be implemented.

Stream of consciousness

The author is obviously quite knowledgeable and astute. However, his "stream of consciousness" writing style was disorganized and failed to lucidly convey his points, which came across in an oblique way. Moreover, too much time was repeatedly taken with prefatory remarks about what the author intended to present in later chapters.

Finally, at least for my taste, the author's constant use of almost every possible "ism" word throughout the book presents more of a philosophical statement/argument than a concrete, explicit discussion of what is occurring in the world today and possible remedies available.

Insightful observations & spot-on solutions

Sir Paul Collier mbodies the rare combination of astute observation & pragmatism desperately needed today. "The Future of Capitalism" is essential reading 📚 for all leaders of current polical movements. Adoption of his political & economic prescriptions would go a long way to relieving this present malaise.

Must-read for 2020 candidates ...and voters, tbh. I think every American who reads this book should start a tweet campaign. We should all tweet the title of this book to the accounts of all presidential hopefuls and make sure they can answer questions pertaining to what they’ve learned from this book by the time of the debates.
