Resumen del Editor

Eighteen-year-old Indigo Skye feels like she has it all – a waitress job she loves, an adorable refrigerator-delivery-guy boyfriend, and a home life that’s slightly crazed but rich in love - until a mysterious man at the restaurant leaves her a 2.5-million-dollar tip, and her life as she knew it is transformed.

At first it’s amazing: a hot new car, enormous flat-screen TV, and presents for everyone she cares about. She laughs off the warnings that money changes people, that they come to rely on what they have instead of who they are. Because it won’t happen…not to her. Or will it? What do you do when you can buy anything your heart desires – but what your heart desires can’t be bought?

This is the story of a girl who gets rich, gets lost, and ultimately finds her way back – if not to where she started, then to where she can start again.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Caletti’s coming-of-age story with an infinitely likeable heroine and richly limned supporting characters makes a fine counterpoint to the ubiquitous rich-girl series books." ( Booklist)

"Storybook" characters become real and 3D

You should know up front that I am quite taken with Ms Caletti's stories and find her writing impressive. This is possibly my least favorite of her books so far...but even that statement is complicated. I read this one before hearing it and I really like the story. Ms Grafton does a very good job narrating the tale but I just had a really hard time getting "close" to Indigo. Ms Grafton's version was a little too flip; she (Indigo) thought she was SO funny but all she did was annoy. Not how I had "read" her when I read the print version. But it is a testimonial to Ms Grafton that she could create and maintain a character that always sounds as if she is laughing as she speaks. It is also important to note that Ms Grafton is able to flesh out a character to the point of making her quite real all the while maintaining a subtle undercurrent of annoyance with Indigo within the listener. Well done!! To get a listener/reader to be intensely interested in the fortunes (sorry about the pun) of a character AND to have the listener CARE about a character that is so difficult to like is no mean feat!!! Rating this was SO hard and I think I gave the performance 4 stars unfairly. It is actually quite a performance when you are snapping at the CD player and getting all annoyed at a fictional character but wanting things to work out for her. This book should be given a chance...a GOOD, concerted chance and if you find yourself irritated and pissed off at Indigo...then please note that is a good sign; that you have been sucked in; you should push on and let the tale play out!
