J. M. Adovasio has spent the last thirty years at the center of one of our most fiery scientific debates: Who were the first humans in the Americas, and how and when did they get there?

At its heart, The First Americans is the story of the revolution in thinking that Adovasio and his fellow archaeologists have brought about, and the firestorm it has ignited. As he writes, "The work of lifetimes has been put at risk, reputations have been damaged, an astounding amount of silliness and even profound stupidity has been taken as serious thought, and always lurking in the background of all the argumentation and gnashing of tenets has been the question of whether the field of archaeology can ever be pursued as a science."

I was expecting something different but overall not a bad listen. There is more historiography than there is interpretation.

Quite Interesting.

This is a great book but is more dated than atleast I could tell from the description, most things generally hold up but there has been quite a bit that’s happened in the 20 years between the book and the audiobooks publishing dates

Published in 2003

A very intelligent man that has "been there, done that" with an occasional dose of humility, but overshadowed by the bitterness for anyone in his past that he feels has crossed him.

The jabs at Christians isn't necessary to get his story across, but apparently he can't help himself to mock them.

Otherwise, a very informative book that leaves you with some answers, and even more questions

Worth a read/listen

Things I never knew

Ths book assumes much baaed the arrogance of the archeological community and ignores the younger drieous completely. it no longer has any relevance and may as well be released as fiction.

purposeful ignorance
