This is an audio-enhanced version - with music and sound effects - of one of the earliest stories from the master of horror, Edgar Allan Poe.

"The Fall of the House of Usher" tells the tale of Roderick and Madeline Usher, ailing siblings who inhabit a gigantic mansion that is, as they are, slowly deteriorating.

well, we all know the story so I won't spend anytime there. Kevin Theis is the narrator for this masterpiece. He spoke clearly and loudly. However, his reading could have used a little more emotion to put it over the top. The sound quality of the recording was excellent.

I have always enjoyed Edgar Allan Poe's work. This was a good story, although some of the words used are not as understandable.

loved the excitement and clarity of the narrator. The sound effects were a little inconsistent but overall it was quite good.

Narrator Kevin Theis gets totally into 19th century character for this creepy Edgar Allen Poe story. At a little less than an hour, it's more than worth your time to give it a listen. This dramatization allows you to drift back to a time when horror was less about gore and more about getting inside your head to free your worst nightmares.

Brilliantly narrated. Disturbing and creepy as only Edgar Allen Poe’s can be. I love how descriptive is stories are.

The story is classic Poe. Wonderful and timeless it can be enjoyed by any and all. I find this rendition of it with music and sound effects to be a perfect addition to any library especially as we close in on Halloween. Full productions like this are also a great way to introduce kids into audiobooks as they find the music and sound effects to be more movie like and engaging for them. Great performance by Kevin Theis. Poe does a good job and scene setting, and the horror is PG at best which makes it a good listen for middle readers.

As far as Poe goes this is one of his less elaborate and more straight forward suspense stories. For those who have a hard time getting into his stories this one is perfect to start out with. There is extensive analysis done on Poe so I will leave you with one thought, as a person who thinks Poe and Hubbard are overrated I do enjoy this story.
Kevin really rocks this story. He has the perfect old timey voice and cadence and I could picture people listening to this sitting around the radio. He really keeps the story going and I would be more inclined to listen to more Poe if Kevin continues to voice them. He definitely is a narrator I'm going to have to listen to more of.

I love the narration and the background sounds. Usually I don't like it, but with this narrator, it was done right. Good story! Definitely love the narrator!

That narration.

I ordered this and tried to listen to another narrator. Lost interest almost immediately. This is by far superior to that version.
