Resumen del Editor

The superb aliens-in-your-head SF sequel to the wildly popular The Rise of Io, by the author of The Lives of Tao series.

When Ella Patel's mind was invaded by the Quasing alien Io, she was dragged into the raging Prophus versus Genjix war. Despite her reservations and Io's incompetence, the Prophus were determined to train her as an agent. It didn't go well.

Expelled after just two years, Ella happily returned to con artistry and bank robberies. But the Quasing war isn't done with them yet. The Genjix's plan to contact their homeworld has reached a critical stage, threatening all life on Earth. To complete the project they need Io's knowledge - and he's in Ella's head - so now they're both being hunted...again.

A different sort of hero

The characters are in a world that is completely different from ours. The alien invasion has been going on for centuries and no one is aware, but they will be. It's a very interesting take on this sort of story and I enjoyed getting mixed up in this world.

Too many fights

Got bored with too much fighting instead of telling the story and then there was no conclusion just a set up for the next book

Not my favorite book in the series

This is not my favorite book the Quasing Universe. I found both Ella and IO's personality annoying and grating on my nerves. on more than one occasion I has hoping for a flame thrower to end it. its one thing to have a secondary character be the annoying one in the story, but to have both the main character and her alien play the part was too much. I ended skipping ahead during slow or extra annoying moments in the book. That said, narrator did a good job, and the story wasn't that bad that I completely abandon the series.

Not as good as Tao

I was really excited when the whole Io series started out. Chu has built a great believable world for these stories. The first thing that got me was the narrator saying "Lead" as is the material instead of "Lead" with a long E. There are little problems like this that weren't caught in the narration and kinda break the story.
Both main characters aren't very likable. Io is more of the antagonist when you get to the end and look back at the story. Ella isn't much better. She has absolutely no common sense to the point that I was completely unsympathetic to her when she came across a problem. The writing became extremely repetitive. Roan would complain about being old and fantasize about his garden ever time the story was from his point of view. I don't think any of the characters really had an arch at all.
I sped this book up to get it over with. I want to follow what happens in this world but the characters in both Io books feel so wooden and irritating that I'm not sure if I'll get the next one.
