Excellent reader great voice

I loved everything excellent history lesson for me interesting time in america small town in 1925 I’m not American so for me it was specially interesting

This is the question

I love books that bring a real historical event into an enjoyable fiction read. Grunwald very tastefully brought the events forward regardless of what the readers actual beliefs are. It is done through the eyes of Annabelle who was a devoted believer and struggled with the revelations brought to her town during the Scopes Trial. The story still leaves the questions open to the reads opinion. I really enjoyed this book.

An important historical event

The Scopes trial took place in Tennessee, a conservative, religion-bound state. When in today’s news, Tennessee remains much the same as it was 100 years ago—conservative, religious and certainly racist, an aspect that was hinted at in this book

Wise words from a tea bag. Some people’s minds are like cement. All mixed up and permanently set.

Characters who draw you in to the time and issues

The characters, especially Annabel, were believable, in part because they acted like real people, with doubts, and weaknesses.
