Resumen del Editor

A child of a hoarder - an outcast growing up amid shocking squalor - finds purpose in this vivid memoir. Broken, alone and buried in a house full of junk and shame, Eddy Gilmore takes the "normal" route out - institutionalized learning. But when college life fails to offer meaning, the young man reaches a turning point, a point at which he abandons social norms, abandons the status quo, and strikes out on his own. A lifetime of adventure packed into a nine-month "gestational" period awaits: face-to-face encounters with wildlife, a devastating monsoon, a magical winter near the Canadian border, the kindness of strangers. Gilmore's quest for knowledge and wisdom through experience, adventure, faith, and books will engage you as the author comes to fully experience the world for the first time.

Exciting and Entertaining

What made the experience of listening to The Emancipation of a Buried Man the most enjoyable?

The authors great ability to story tell. He brought you right in to his trip and adventure.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eddy

Which character – as performed by Eddy Gilmore – was your favorite?

Himself.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

You felt for Eddy about his home life. But laughed at some of his antics and experiences.

Any additional comments?

I give Eddy great credit for his courage for taking on his trips. This something I would never do. This book kept you anticipating what next adventure Eddy was to have. And made it had to stop listening. It is also nice that Eddy himself is reading the book, it makes it personal. Definitely would recommend this book!!!

Loved it

I liked it.
My mom and I listened together.
It's like two books in one.
Mom hated the first part and hat to skip it because it was so disgusting.
I listened and though gross, it made the second part of the book meaning
The narration was excellent.
So impressed with Eddy's accomplishments.
