Growing up in the Canadian Rockies, the mountains have always been home for Jenny Tough. Travelling the world, she's always discovered commonalities with mountains—and mountain people. Her major project is to run solo and unsupported across a mountain range on every continent where indigenous mountain people live isolated from the outside, urban world. Running solo and unsupported comes with obvious logistical as well as physical challenges, but running is also a common language—all people around the world do it—and it has always helped build connections across barriers of language and nationality.

Well written and relatable

I’ve not quite done the things JT has but do similar adventures and absolutely loved her honesty and vulnerability. She’s a great writer.

Lots of Whining

I wanted to really like this book but a good portion of the book was her just whining and then just leaving it at that. I fell asleep multiple times instead of being captivated.

I was so invested in this journey, Loved every minute of it. I was so moved by her bravery and endurance, so touched by the kindness of strangers. what an inspiration! so glad that she wrote this book to share with us this fabulous journey.

I wanted to like this.

For the past five days I have listened to this story by Jenny Tough. It is well read, she seems knowledgeable and able to put together a story. However, it’s so “half”. Half a story, events without conclusions, and stories without resolve- just and “that was that”.
I can save you the time and money. Jenny runs across a mountain range on each continent. And that’s it. Yes, there is peril, injury, feelings and questions she asks of herself. But her disconnect with her body, her spirit, her vulnerability and the culture of others is never reckoned with. It just made me feel empty. None of those questions and feelings are reflected on for longer than a sentence. I wish I could post a better review.

Inspiring

What an exceptional level of exploration and self discovery. This book was excellent. Thank you for sharing your adventures with the world.

Bravery

How does a person decide to run through 5 different mountain ranges? How does a person save their own life when on the face of a cliff, or in a fast cold river, or “alone” while men help her out of danger?

Loved it!

I felt like I was on the adventures with Jenny. Sharing real feelings throughout her journey makes it all so relatable. I recommend this to any travel story enthusiast or outdoor adventure seeker. Great job, Jenny!

Well worth it and very honest

Honest account of her experience. Provides real motivation if your into this line of adventure. Jenny has done a wonderful thing that I think anyone can take at least one lesson from.

I like her voice I wanted to know the culture.

I can’t get over that fact that she was so naive? You don’t have a weapon? You are surprised that men find you attractive or that you are a second rate citizen in this far away country. Did she do her homework before she got there? Did she have a plan around how to get around these men? And we go on and on how pushed she is on how she is treated. Come on now? Know your surroundings and keep yourself safe. Most of this just seems stupid. Ignorant. Also the fact that you don’t understand these people and how they they live. They don’t care about the gorgeous mountain because they don’t have enough money to stop working 16 hours a day to notice the beauty. Good for you to be able to have the money and the ability to have such a great vacation. Stop bitching and get running. Not my kind of book. Sorry
