Outstanding & outstanding bargain with 1 exception

This is a wonderful collection of Forster's work, one that is a revelation in that it allows the listener not only to hear many of Forster's best works, but to trace the author's own growth as a writer. The selections and readings are excellent, with one very glaring exception. For some reason, the reader of A Passage to India felt compelled to narrate the novel with a consistent fake Indian accent. The accent itself is fairly credible, but utterly inappropriate. Nothing in the text suggests that the narrator is Indian. In addition, the reader is NOT Indian himself, and the result is racist, degrading, and annoying. If the narrator had confined his use of his fake accent purely to Indian characters in the text, we might forgive him, given the diversity of voices in the text. It's a pity that this, one of Forster's best works, is given an unworthy, and un-p.c. reading..

i urge Audible to find another narrator for A Passage to India.

That said, the collection remains a terrific bargain, providing days of fascinating listening.by excellent readers, with the one exception.

The Best Way to Discover Forster

I've wanted to listen to EM Forster for ages and this collection gave me all his major titles in one. The performances were great and all easily labelled. Worth a listen!
