Resumen del Editor

This is an incredible tale of fantasy by one of the greatest writers of the genre. Some think this is one of Lovecraft's greatest novels. Others think it is completelyincomprehensible. It is certainly a very strange book since the entire story takesplace in a fabulous world created in the mind of a dreamer, Randolph Carter, and inhabited by weird and awesome creatures. There are cats who fly to the moon, named and unnamable monsters, gigantic flying creatures and a quest to find Kadath, a fortress where the gods live and play. The book is a veritable tour de force of horror and imagination that only the genius of Lovecraft could create.

Barely Adequate

What made the experience of listening to The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath the most enjoyable?

It wasn’t particularly enjoyable.

What other book might you compare The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath to and why?

Dunsany, of course, but Lovecraft admitted his influence on this story.

What didn’t you like about Jim Roberts’s performance?

It was less of a narration, and more of a dictation, with little emotion. He mispronounces nearly every person, place or thing in the Cthulhu Mythos, consistently, which became increasingly annoying; one minute of internet searching would have located him a pronunciation guide which would have at least nominally improved his performance, which he barely seemed to care about.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

More of a reading I suffered through.

Meh

An excellent Lovecraft story as always. One of my favorites. However the narrator seems as though reading off a list of words, instead of a thrilling cosmic adventure. He brings a distinctive lack of emotion and a grey blandness to this otherwise exciting story. I recommend "The Life and Times of Randolf Carter" for a better more listenable version of this particular story.

Torture!

Can this man never narrate a single other story? ABSOLUTELY RUINS A GRAND TALE. His dull and ceaseless monotone strips all joy and wonder from the book, and even makes Nyarlathotep seem boring!
