Resumen del Editor

War Among the Dragons....

"When dragons make war, Krynn can only tremble in the shadow of angry wings." (Astinus Lorekeeper)

Aurican and Darlantan, mighty serpents of gold and silver, have been nurtured in a world of wisdom, meditation, and sublime faith. On the other side of Ansalon, Crematia, a dragon of red, inherits the Dark Queen's legacy of betrayal, violence, conquest, and plunder.

The advent of a worldwide war sweeps these powerful beings and many more into desperate strife. Battles rage over Krynn with a fury that threatens to annihilate nations and whole races - even dragonkind. As campaigns ebb and flow, generations of lesser mortals come and go, and the great serpents are left to determine the fate of the world. Their triumphs may create a destiny of all-encompassing light or cast the world beneath the shadow of ultimate darkness.

The Dragons: The Lost Histories Series probes the historical roots and epic struggles of little-known inhabitants of Krynn.

Love this story but the performance

I remember loving this book as i read it on paperback some years ago… and hearing it, still love it now and think it is one of the reasons my love for dragons have lingered through the years. The performer tho somewhat takes me out of the story. I appreciate the effort, but could have been better. As most commented, robotic, and doesn’t seem that familiar with some of the pronunciation of some names and words.

strong story with slightly stale narration

While I loved the story and alternate viewpoints on books such as legend of huma and chronicles....the narrarator was a bit robotic and put nothing into making it more compelling or interesting for my tastes. Still the book holds its own and it was reasonably okay w/narraration.

Good, classic Dragonlance tale.

This was one of the first Dragonlance books I'd ever read, 20 years ago as a teen. And even now hearing it on audio just now I still really like it. The woman narrating doesn't exactly seem the most adept at this kind of thing, but, she's certainly not so bad that it makes the book hard to listen to, and she at least makes an attempt to change her voice according to which dragon character she is speaking for, the evil dragons in the story she especially gives an appropriate tone for. The story spans almost 10,000 years on Krynn between 3 generations of dragons, and how they relate to the lesser beings on the planet throughout the centuries as they war with each other (the metal dragons of Paladine on the side of Good and the chromatic dragons serving Takhisis and her evil ways on the other). Really the only big complaint I have about the story is that the chromatic dragons, being of Takhisis the Dark Queen, are really portrayed as much weaker than their metal dragon counterparts in nearly every battle between them, even when having the natural physical or tactical advantage, and constantly lose out with greater casualties. This makes little sense to me when in the book Takhisis' character as the god over all of the evil dragons really turns on the classical evil stereotype as enjoying fighting and killing for the sheer heck of it. A favorite quote of hers to her dragons is "mercy is weakness, and weakness is death!" So you'd think she'd have taught her own dragons to do just that a lot better in battle, showing no mercy and fighting with a fierce and undiluted intent to burn their metallic enemies out of the sky, but, whatever; I guess the metal dragons of Good for all of their relative lack of killing spirit are just naturally higher up in levels or something. Other than that, a good story, with many quite memorable and fascinating dragon characters, such as Lectral, Crematia, and Aurican.

Poor narration mars otherwise compelling story

I loved this book on paper, it was one of my favorites. Unfortunately, the narration is just unbearable. It suffers from terrible cadence and mispronunciations. First, and as yet only book I've returned.

A historical overview?

Don't listen to this book first, it cover all the history of Dragon Lance though many generations of dragons. Casey Holloway did a good job, but her voice was to soft for the voice of mighty dragons. Also she does these William Shatner like pauses that are annoying. other than that, I liked it.

Mediocre story made worse by narrator.

Possibly the worst reader I've ever subjected myself to. Robotic delivery made real appreciation impossible.
