Resumen del Editor

Dark dwarves...darker schemes...and rising chaos. For generations the baser clans of Thorbardin have raged against Hylar, ancestral rulers of the vast underground realm. Now, the finest Hylar army has marched away to face the Knights of Takhisis - and the dark dwarves see their opportunity.

Besieged in the Life Tree that is their fortress city, the Hylar struggle to survive. Magic and madness threaten from all sides as Theiwar, Daergar, and Klar press the onslaught with bloodthirsty frenzy. The forces of Chaos join the battle against all dwarvenkind. And hopes grow dim as the Hylar face ultimate betrayal and confront the specter of Torbardin's ultimate doom. This exciting new novel by popular Dragonlance author Douglas Niles tells the tale of the legendary dwarven kingdom during the Chaos War, the backdrop for The New York Times best-selling novel, Dragons of Summer Flame.

love the book

but I absolutely am not a fan of the reader, even one sounds the same and it gets hard to follow sometimes because of it. not the first time I've heard him and not the first time I've thought this

A nice Dragonlance addition

Any additional comments?

Overall this book fit well with other Dragonlance stories. It's fast paced and gets to the point fast. The only problem was while Clinton Wade's performance was okay is suffered in two areas - one was the way he pronounced GrayGem (think insetad of Gem it was Gum but with an 'E') and since it was the Chaos War it was said quite a few times. and the other was the Voices for the Dwarves was too gravely, i think a more normal low voice would've worked but they sounded more like demons, and too much alike. Other than those two points the book was enjoyable

Story ok narration terrible

Horrid narration! In a series as long standing as Dragon Lance it can't be that hard to find the proper pronunciation of common names and terms from the world of the series! The voices used by the narrator are just the worst as well. Every single character sounds like a demonic spawn ready to commit the most evil deed ever conceived. Truly painful to listen to.

good story, bad narration

the story was good but I had a hard time with the narration. wouldn't have been so bad except for the lame attempt at dwarven voices.

had read the book before. hearing it was great

I had read the book before when I purchased the whole series a long time ago. Hearing it performed was a great experience which brought a new perspective and depth to the book.

Hoping the next books are better

I have already purchased the next four books in the series, so I am hoping the next few are more interesting.
I will grant you that I find the Dragonlance dwarves to be the least interesting of the races to begin with, so this book was starting at a disadvantage, but the narrator did nothing to make the story more interesting. His monotone delivery leaves much to be desired and I found that my attention could drift away from the story very easily. The author clearly didn’t help either, as I finished the book and still didn’t know who all the characters were, or how they fit into the story.
I love the books by Weis and Hickman, but the Dragonlance books by other authors can be wildly erratic in quality.
