Resumen del Editor

A sweeping leadership framework to institute clear and intentional actions throughout your organization so that people of all racial backgrounds are empowered to lead, collaborate, and excel at work.

The Diversity Gap is a fearless, groundbreaking guide to help leaders at every level shatter the barriers that are causing diversity efforts to fail.

Combining real-world research with honest first-person experiences, racial justice facilitator Bethaney Wilkinson provides leaders a replicable structure to foster a diverse culture of belonging within your organization.

With illuminating and challenging insights throughout, you will:

  • Better understand today’s racial climate and its negative impact on your organization and team
  • Be equipped to shift your organizational culture from one that has good intentions for “diversity” to one that addresses systemic barriers to all employees thriving at work
  • Be emboldened to participate in creating an organizational culture where people from various racial backgrounds are growing in their purpose, making their highest contributions, and collaborating effectively toward greater impact at work and in the world

Ultimately, The Diversity Gap is the quantum shift between well-intentioned organizational diversity programs that do little to move the needle and a lasting culture of equity and belonging that can transform your organization and outpace your industry.

Thoughtfully written and an easy listen

The Diversity Gap turned out to be a detailed, nuanced guide to interrogating oneself and one's organization on the subjects of racial bias and inclusion, and working towards substantive actions one can take to improve both. The author pulls no punches, but lays down no guilt either.
This book isn't a starter guide to understanding systemic biases and the history of racial oppression in the US - the author starts with the assumption that her audience is at least somewhat familiar with these topics. Instead, she builds on that foundation to offer a systematic evaluation of the roles race can play in a workplace as well as in personal life. She breaks things down into bite size concepts that are easy to understand.
I found it very informative and recommended it highly.

Easy book to listen

As a person of color, I relate to the many stories shared in this book. Working in an engineering field dominated by white men in their upper half of their lives is not easy. Many actions done towards me are simple acts of resistance of the status quo. Having a book like this one, and shared in my industry is necessary, the chances of change are a long shot, but the opportunity needs to be done today.

Recommended read for anyone serious about closing the diversity gap

This book is for serious change agents. It’s more than just words to read/listen to. It’s a collection of thought provoking questions, self-reflection, and action items. Anyone interested in changing the culture of their work place should read this book. Highly recommended for book clubs and anti-racist working groups.

if the flower doesn't bloom, fix the environment not the flower.

PDF was a perfect accessory for the book. To keep track of things to work on in all aspects

no solution for today

not a favorite for me. Need a broader perspective, less basis without majority perspective. The voice was very loudly onesided
