Audie Award Finalist, Children's Titles for Ages Up to 8, 2014
Laszlo is afraid of the dark.
The dark lives in the same house as Laszlo. Mostly, though, the dark stays in the basement and doesn't come into Lazslo's room. But one night, it does.
This is the story of how Laszlo stops being afraid of the dark.
With emotional insight and poetic economy, two award-winning talents team up to conquer a universal childhood fear.

What made the experience of listening to The Dark the most enjoyable?
I first found out about this because Neil Gaiman was narrating, and I enjoy his narration every time, but I have to say that what made the book the most enjoyable was the humor and the handling of the subject matter, the way that children were assumed to be competent, and able to handle themselves. Neil was a great narrator for this because his own work reflects these kinds of themes as well. What did you like best about this story?
This was funny, a little tongue in cheek but in a way which shows children to be capable, competent, and in a way their own best friends.Have you listened to any of Neil Gaiman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
YES. Tons of them. This is honestly one of my favorites, because I could tell Neil's and "Lemony"'s values are relatively in line so they worked together to create a great audio experience. Because of this I went on to listen to other Lemony books. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't want to give spoilers! But it was very imaginative.Any additional comments?
After this I went on to read The Lump of Coal which I also highly recommend! I am not really a fan of his series work but the first book of the Unfortunate Events series is also very well done, as it won a Grammy. (Audiobooks are not usually up for Grammys!) It is a great production narrated by Tim Curry. My introduction to Lemony Snicket, and so great!

Lemony Snicket and Neil Gaiman are a match made in heaven. I can't think of many others who can so perfectly articulate imperfect kid logic.
Gorgeous
