Resumen del Editor

Daisy Dalrymple is back - when a casual outing to the Crystal Palace in London takes a mysterious and murderous turn.

April 1928: Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher is visited in London by her young cousins. On the list of must-see sites is the Crystal Palace. Discovering that her children's nanny, Nanny Gilpin, has never seen the Palace, Daisy decides to make a day of it - bringing her cousins, her three-year-old twins, her step-daughter Belinda, the nurserymaid, and Nanny Gilpin. Yet this ordinary outing goes wrong when Mrs. Gilpin goes off to the ladies room and fails to return. When Daisy goes to look for her, she doesn't find her nanny but instead the body of another woman dressed in a nanny's uniform.

Meanwhile, Belinda and the cousins spot Mrs. Gilpin chasing after yet another nanny. Intrigued, they trail the two through the vast Crystal Palace and into the park. After briefly losing sight of their quarry, they stumble across Mrs. Gilpin lying unconscious in a small lake inhabited by huge concrete dinosaurs.

When she comes to, Mrs. Gilpin can't remember what happened after leaving the twins in the nurserymaid's care. Daisy's husband, Detective Chief Inspector Alec Fletcher of Scotland Yard, finds himself embroiled in the investigation of the murdered nanny. Worried about her children's own injured nanny, Daisy is determined to help. First she has to discover the identity of the third nanny, the presumed murderer, and to do so, Daisy must uncover why the amnesic Mrs. Gilpin deserted her charges to follow the missing third nanny.

still a fun series but time is clearly a character

in this story everyone is confronting age a lot more. lucy is taking beauty treatments and worrying. daisy is considering the next step for the twins education. Belle is dealing with becoming a young lady. Alec is confronting he cant move as quickly take as many long nights and how his career is changing.

it makes for an interesting story as we have several call backs to previous adventures including several characters we have seen before. this daisy and alec series have existed in a set series of time but it is interesting to have that remarked upon so blatantly. it is clear life changes are happening for daisy and alec but both characters have changed a lot (for the better) as the series has progressed).

as usual the cast of characters remains this series selling point and strength. the mysteries still work. still this story felt a little more disjointed then usual. too much going on as a distraction. while it was great seeing so many old favorites and how theh have changed the story I felt suffered a bit for it. good as a part ofnthe series but notna solid story by itself. I would have enjoyed a scene of alec and daisy sitting down to seriously discuss their lives and the changes they are making but unlike other books we dont get to see that aspect of their lives.

i still like the narrator a lot and how she inflects various characters. i think the production values remain good.

while others have ssid this is the end of the series, ms. Dunn has other projects she wants to work on, the book is not an overt ending. i am not sure what an overt ending would look like in a series about two sleuths building a life together. it it ends here that is fine. we have had a great series. if there is more that will be good to see. I am not sure I want to see what happens to them in the coming financial crash.

So I will see what happens but at the very least I will enjoy looking into her other works

Oh it's good to be back!

Carola Dunn has created one of my most favourite cast of characters! Daisy and Alec are just fabulous and then she puts the into wonderful historical settings such as the Crystal Palace! Again, we are drawn back in time to the well-constructed world and the mystery unfolds. Daisy can't stop finding herself in the midst and I, for one, am very grateful! This is another great one, full of twists and turns, not to be missed

Loved the whole series… but…CHARLIE????

I loved the series, though Alec’s pronouncement of “Great Scott!” is getting a bit old….ok… REALLY OLD!!!!!!! As far as this story goes, it was very good, but the use of the name Charlie really bothered me… it was made very clear in “heirs of the body” that Ben’s brother was named Jacques…. So how is he suddenly names Charlie? These kinds of changes really pull you out of the story and exactly what she criticized in “gone west”… otherwise, it was good

Another Great Daisy Book

I love every book in this series. The characters are fun and the historical feel are great. The narrator is easy and enjoyable to listen to. These stories always bring to life the time and setting of London in the early 1900s. #Clever #AmateurDetective #London #PostWorldWarI #HistoricalFiction #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Just the facts!

I love the historical details, the progression women's right, the sense of reality that is added to Daisy's life by real events. Will there be more?

23 books, is that all!

I’m very sad to come to the end and have to say goodbye to Daisy and Alex after 23 books In a row. If that’s not high enough praise I don’t know what is LOL. The characters the stories the ark of the characters growth all done well. If you like a mystery and historical fiction Set in England this is a must not miss series.

Thank you Audible for offering this entire series!

I have totally enjoyed these 23 books. The writing was excellent with tons of red herrings, quirky and lovable characters, English history, British slang, great narration and imaginative plots.

One of the best parts was the lack of objectionable language and sexual situations. I would recommend the series to anyone who loves a good read!

I have so enjoyed the Daisy series and will miss the characters terribly. Mysteries were always solid and stories enjoyably told.

Enjoyable series finale

A good story on its own and as a finale to the series. Satisfying even though I won't be listening to more about Daisy. Carola Dunn is a talented writer. The narrator does a very good job of voicing men and women.
