Resumen del Editor

In just four months receive your SSDI benefits! This concise guide is a book written to show you how to protect your money and investments if you become ill or have an accident and have to apply for disability. It is explained in a simple version of how to apply and receive in four months.

Your Social Security Disability Insurance benefits on-your-own, without hiring an attorney/advocate.

The Concise Guide to Apply for Disability On-Your-Own is the shortened version of the original Apply for Disability On-Your-Own book. Do not lose your savings or investments or become part of the horrid stories of waiting many years for disability benefits, courtrooms, appeals, etc. Go online and apply on your own! You will receive all of your SSDI benefits without an attorney and/or advocate taking their portion. You paid into your SSDI benefits via FICA taxes being taken out of your very first paycheck since your first job! SSDI is not government assistance. Remember: you paid into it via all of your paychecks!

Sp1&sp2

At times I wanted to discontinue listening to this book although it may be important for the author to give us background on family religion and everything else it took up about six chapters I did not find it very informative in the repeating SP one in his sp2 was very annoyingAnd In whole The book should I have more information and qualifications what type of disabilities qualify that is so far from books that I have gotten from audible this is my less liked book and if I could I would return it.

Helpful but somewhat misleading

I represented Social Security claimants as an attorney for 30 years. This book provides helpful information about internal workings of the state agencies and in some cases working with these agencies can be productive. The author casually mentions partway into the book that he had undergone multiple brain surgeries before filing his claim; this is the kind of thing that gets attention at the initial and reconsideration phases which may produce quick results.

The ALJ hearing level is where claims get the most thorough review. ALJs have more discretion in paying cases. Often aggressive management of a case at initial and recon levels merely delays the claim getting to hearing where chances of success are best.

This book and my experience do not address problems related to COVID, which has slowed everything down. If you are filing a claim or a recon, you can get (Usually free) your medical records from treating sources. It is important to keep these organized. You can submit them to the SSA yourself. At some point in the process you may consider getting a lawyer. In some cases, this is essential if you have not prevailed at lower levels. I saw many cases where I would not have thought the claimant needed a lawyer, but unfortunately the case had been denied up to a level where it is harder for me to help.

Good luck with your case.

START AT CHAPTER SIXTEEN

I want to say first and foremost that there is no relevant information until Chapter 16, but I know few will listen to my advice, as that's just the American way, as I did not listen either.
Miami, who is the woman that wrote the book, knew full well a minuscule amount of people receive Disability in 4 months except in dire cases. I will keep this short and sweet, so follow closely.
Do not use a credit for this book, but pay the four dollars and change for it, if you insist on getting it, but I guarantee you that there is absolutely no information you cannot get from SSA itself.
I had to file myself before I was struck suddenly with a neurological illness.
I used no lawyer as I thought it was crystal clear, but it took about a year to get approved. That year I lived on savings as how can I ask my country for money, if I had enough to get me by? Huge mistake, as I applied for no other aid as European immigrants tend not to ask for money.
The book will not help you get through the days of stress waiting and then they deny me! I appealed the decision myself as after all, Congress is full of lawyers. Do not look at SSA as the enemy as it is full of people that actually want to help you along the way. (Really) If you are truly disabled as was the author, you will breeze through the entire process.

Waste of time

Don't bother. No specific information. Inserts religious beliefs into what should be a technical step by step process. Wastes time with vague information and no substance.
