Resumen del Editor

Phryne Fisher is back - as smart and as sassy as ever.

Phryne Fisher, her sister Beth, and her faithful maid Dot take a trip to an amusement park with Phryne's two daughters Ruth and Jane. But in the dusty dark Ghost Train, a mummified bullet-studded corpse falls to the ground in front of them. Digging to the bottom of this long-standing mystery takes her to the country town of Castlemaine where it soon becomes obvious that someone is trying to muzzle her investigations. Meanwhile, Phryne's lover Lin Chung has his own mystery to solve.

Delightful Entry in the Phryne Fisher Series

A trip to an amusement park yields a dead body that has been mummified and likely dead for 50 years. Phryne struggles with her current domestic situation because her haughty, complaining sister Eliza has come to visit. When Eliza finally thaws, it is to confess that their father wants to sell her to one of two suitors, an icy old relic or a musclebound oaf who's threatened her and, unlike Phryne, Eliza hasn't come into an inheritance she can live on. She truly wants to work with the poor, joining a fellow inspiring worker whom she loves. The musclebound oaf has followed her to Australia, and it turns out has a connection to the murder, which Phryne has gone to the small town of Castlemain to investigate. Lin Chung is in Castlemain too. Earlier in the book he has settled a longterm feud with another Chinese family in hilarious fashion and is now in Castlemain representing his family as its head and rendering judgments on many domestic issues. He does a great job, but when Phryne disappears, finding her naturally becomes his priority. He rallies the local police to a hitherto undreamt-of level of competence but as usual Phryne possesses a miraculous ability to save herself while solving the mystery.

Priest

I enjoy the story for the most part, but tired of the bed humping now she's involved with a married man. even if it's cultural for him. and miss.fisher has the wife make her gardens. really.

Excellent Narration

Stephanie Daniel is excellent! She does multiple voices and accents easily. I'm addicted to the Phryne series - books and TV show. Lots of fun, mystery, and woman power!

Phryne wins again

I just love these characters and the feminist viewpoint of the author. So well written with a great vocabulary.

The Castlemaine Murders is simply my favorite of all.

Of all the Phrynie Fisher series, this one is by far my favorite...I have it in both book and audiobook versions. I really enjoy the interaction among all the characters, especially, Lin with the Elders. I think it is the added Chinese culture and verbal exchanges that fascinates me most with this particular story. Would like more of it in future books. As for Stephanie Daniel's narration, she cannot be topped, at least in my opinion. Just pure and simply, I always return to The Castlemaine Murders, especially my unabridged audio version (which is tied in to my book), whenever I'm driving.

An amusing ride the whole way

Another stunning murder mystery. I feel like I’m getting repetitious with these, but Kerry Greenwood has done it again. This time Phryne, Dot, Lin Chung, Beth (Phryne’s sister), and Phryne’s two adopted daughters find a mummy at an amusement park, and things take off.

I love that Lin got more of a starring roll in this book. He’s a very interesting character, and I found I was a little disappointed to get back to Phryne’s bit. I think his life even without the mysteries would make a very good spin-off series (hint, hint).

An amusing ride the whole way. Cannot recommend the series enough.
