Jack & Holmes

A collection of stories set in the Holloway Holmes universe. I enjoyed getting to see different sides of Jacks and Holmes, how they interacted at their school with others and themselves. I really enjoyed getting to know them better.

Greg did an awesome job narrating.

I was given this as an advanced listener.
You can never fault Greg Tremblay's narration and he has this lovely short collection from Gregory Ashe to work with.
These are important insights in to Holloway Holmes and Jack Moreno that only can be appreciated if you have read the series. Then you will understand why one minute you are sad, smiling, angry, and laughing, as you listen to Holloway and Jack come into the light.

Wonderful story!

This is a great book that adds to the story’s of other Holloway Holmes novels that Ashe has written. The narrator was great and grabbed my attention from the beginning.

I loved all of these little short stories. Such a special treat for the readers! Just perfect!! Now I need more Jack and Holmes!

It was great to see these characters again

It’s been nearly two years since I listened to the last story in The Adventures of Holloway Holmes series. Going into this collection of short stories, I realized that I had forgotten a few things about the series and the characters and it made me wish I had relistened to the series. And though I won’t be holding off this review to do so, I do think I will have to listen to them again soon.

I do think it is a little harder reviewing short stories because there is not as much to talk about, but I will do my best to let you know how enjoyable it was listening to this book. One thing that was different about this collection is that each of the short stories is told in alternating viewpoints of Jack and Holloway. In the previous books we were only treated to Jack’s pov.

The first short story was before the first book in the series. We get to see Holmes as he first showed up at the Walker School. It was hard to see him at his most aloof and robotic. It was even harder seeing how people treated him. We also see his first meeting with Jack, who while helping his dad do maintenance at the school ends up dealing drugs to the students there. It’s just a brief glimpse of the two characters before they became friends and started their transformations into the characters I grew to love.

The second short story was also a bit awkward. I loved seeing them build their friendship and the interest in more grow in them, but, there were also moments when worrying about what others would think put them on shaky ground.

The third story takes place when Jack and Holloway are apart from each other. I think this was one of the more interesting stories because we get to see exactly what Jack was doing, how much danger he was in, and his working with his ex, Paxton. I don’t remember how I felt about Paxton in the past, but I was glad he was there for Holloway. I also realized that I had completely forgotten the friend group that Jack had formed. I finally remembered that I really did like his bond with Rowe, though, and it makes me want to relisten to the previous books even more.

The last story of this collection is definitely the most intriguing. It takes place immediately after the last book in the series. Jack and Holloway have been through the wringer and not it’s time for them to shake off the things that were holding them back and have the romantic relationship they’ve both wanted. The biggest thing for me in this story is the mysterious package Holloway receives that hints that there might be more to this series after all. I do have to acknowledge that there has been almost two years since this short story was written, so there might not be anything coming, but a part of me will continue to hope.

I guess the only downside to this book is how it makes me want more. And that’s not really a bad thing, in my opinion. Add to that, Greg Tremblay’s great narration and I would definitely recommend this book to people who have read the previous books.

Needs more mystery here

I love these characters and the narrator, so picking this up was a no-brainer. However, these aren't really case file stories, these are more vignettes that plug some holes in the existing story lines. These vignettes do help round out the characters more as see more into them, but there aren't any new mysteries here that they're solving. I would have loved a collection of short mysteries similar to the adventures of sherlock holmes story collection. But it's still Gregory Ashe, and these are great characters, so it's worth a listen if you like them as much as I did.

The Greg Pairing

I love that Gregory Ashe always creates little, short stories after each book. And the compilation of those stories are always made available to us readers. These stories are great insight to the overall series. Although these don't have to be read to enjoy the series they do add just a little more context. And then you pair it with Greg Tremblay's voice, and you have a real winner.

Wonderful shorts with an excellent narrator.

This collection of shorts from various moments throughout the Adventures of Halloway Holmes is a lovely reminder of the important things in life: family, friends, and the hope of finding acceptance. I had a week packed with anxiety before I took the time to listen to this audiobook. The stories gave my week a different perspective. Jack and Holmes are from very different worlds, but the situations that bring them together show how little that matters. Listening to them navigate the perils of young adulthood was a treasure. I adore all of the main characters that Gregory Ashe creates, but Jack and Holmes are starting to become my favorites. Greg Tremblay's narration is an added bonus, and I look forward to listening to more of the adventures of Jack and Holmes. If the clues left in these shorts are any hint of the future stories, I won't be disappointed.

Nice installment

This is a collection of short stories that intertwine with the Holloway Holmes series. These are not stand alone stories, so you must read/listen to the series before this book. The most fun part of this book for me is hear Holloway’s POV. He is his normal Holloway self but his speculating what Jack is thinking and feeling is very entertaining. There are also a few stories from Jack’s POV, but IMHO Holloway’s voice is the best. There are also some series insights that you don’t get in the main series. Definably a must for fans of the series.

Greg Tremblay does his normal masterful performance. A+++++
