Good Idea. Uneven Execution.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I really appreciate the offer to listen to this book. I really liked the concept. Survivors of a disaster must figure out their new reality.

The narration is solid.

The biggest issue I had with the writing was the exposition. It reminded me of early fiction writing attempts where every character is named and described. It didn’t help that the names are all generic and homogeneous. And forgettable. I like a little more character development and I like writing that “shows” more than “tells.”

There are some very interesting twists and turns, I really think this story has potential. But all the characters are a bit too agreeable as pointed out by another reviewer. It would be nice if people supported each other like this in real life.

Again, I appreciate the author granting me access to this book. I would try another book by this author.

Why is this not a movie???!!!

I am reviewing this audible book as an ACR. I finished it in less than a day and I am still asking myself why is this audible not made into a movie already. The story is about a post apocalypse world and how a group of survivors have to stay together and make it work one way or another. I am happy to see that one of the main characters is female! The group finds a bunker and try to survive there. Then they bring someone into their space and everything changes.
The narrator does a good job but I deducted one star because I felt he was confused with his different “voices” at some times. Sometimes I couldn’t distinguish on who was supposed to be talking. But other than that I think narration was great.
Overall, The Bunker is a great audiobook for readers that love the post apocalypse stories. Cant wait to read more, this was amazing!

Overall, this was a great short story about the end of the world and the mysteries behind what actually happened to cause the end of the world. The book had some tense moments as a group of people were forced to live together in a bunker. The plot was great and held my interest throughout the book.

My biggest wish was the book was longer and fleshed everything out a little bit more. While for a short story, the author did a great job with the story, I just found the whole premise interesting and would have loved to see more of what happened leading up to the events in the book and then what would happen after the book ended. I have listened to multiple books by Adam McKim and have enjoyed all of them.
