SOON TO BE A MAJOR TELEVISION EVENT FROM NBC, STARRING RUSSELL HORNSBY, ARIELLE KEBBEL, AND MICHAEL IMPERIOLI.

Lincoln Rhyme faces “an Orwellian nightmare” (The New York Times) as a twisted techno-genius destroys lives with impunity by stealing personal information from behind the impenetrable walls of cyberspace.

Rhyme’s cousin Arthur has been arrested on murder charges, and the evidence against the estranged relative Lincoln hasn’t seen in years is perfect—too perfect. Lincoln and his partner Amelia Sachs piece together a deadly pattern of similarly vicious frame-ups that leads them to the imposing Strategic Systems Datacorp—and a master of identity theft and manipulation known only as “522.” But cracking this ingenious killer’s realm places Rhyme and Sachs exactly where “522” wants them—in line to be the next victims.©2008 Jeffrey Deaver; (P)2008 Simon and Schuster, Inc.

As much as I like Dennis Boutsikaris, Edoardo Ballerini does a better job giving each person his own voice, especially Rhyme's terse, curt, acerbic, no-nonsense insistence.

This timely story has data mining as the central theme. How much privacy and freedom are we willing to sacrifice for convenience and information? Sachs was not as fully-fleshed as normal, there was none of her arthritic knees nor scalp and cuticle-tearing behavior--she was just a minor, good crime scene investigator. In fact, none of the characters were as fully here as they are in other stories. The ending did have a humorous conflict among entities.

another good story, but a little thin

Not a fan of this narrated. He emphasized and inflected incorrectly throughout the story. Just not a fan.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The written version of this book is incredibly good - the Audible version royally sucks. It doesn't match the print version in the least. Save your money!

DO NOT BUY THE AUDIBLE!
