Basically, this book is trying to portray a “ Courtenay Family” saga, but just misses on so many fronts. Everything is just a bit thin on detail and atmosphere.

I had high hopes after reading other reviews but this story dragged on endlessly, full of cynicism, greed, despair and death. So much death. It is worse than a soap opera. The reader spoke in a monotone with absolutely no emotion. I'm sorry I wasted my money.
