Resumen del Editor

This isn't "just another mob story." It's a suspenseful, exciting, and entertaining account of one of the greatest scams to hit Las Vegas...a scam that has never been exposed before, and one that changed history and gambling laws across America forever!

Through the eyes of the author, who grew up in that world, and the words of his Godfather, an underboss who told his story before he died, The Boss Always Sits in the Back details the demise of the mobsters who ran northern New Jersey.

It was like he was right there...

Would you consider the audio edition of The Boss Always Sits in the Back to be better than the print version?

Yes. The author paints a clear picture of New Jersey Italians. I don't think anyone else could describe or deliver the correct tone of the story than Jon. I am surprised that the audio book did not include the epilogue.

What other book might you compare The Boss Always Sits in the Back to and why?

This was my first book of this style, so I have nothing else to compare it to.

What does Jon D'Amore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A viable Italian/Jersey tone to the story. This is a story about the Mob in Jersey. I could not picture Patrick Stewart performing this and be credible.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At the end, reading the epilogue (that AUDIBLE.COM left out), I was moved by the death of Jerry, Jon's cousin. Many times throughout the book I laughed at the situations Jon got himself into...many I cannot repeat here in this review.

Any additional comments?

My cousin Ray told me about this book. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Jon and hear him read the first chapter. I have listened to many books read by various individuals. It is in my opinion that a story read by the author is much better than by any actor. The author knows what he wants the reader to take from the story. Jon gave me a glimpse into the world of the Mob that only he could convey.

TRUE TO LIFE MOB STORY - COULD BE OR IS IT?

This is a story about the Mob, Italians, Vegas, Jersey and Gambling to name a few, which happen to be some of my favorite things. Living in the area of Jersey where the book takes place Jon is right on about all the little tidbits and facts which give the listener a sense of being right there. Not being an avid reader I purchased a copy and read it anyway and when it came to Audible I ordered it right away and listened to it again. I have recommended this book to my friends and family and all of them came back to thank me for telling them about "The Boss". Come on you have to listen to this book to find out why; "The Boss Always Sits In The Back" and why Jon took the letter "h" out of his name. In my opinion it is definitely a good read/listen and I highly recommended it.

Horrible reading make it impossible to listen

What would have made The Boss Always Sits in the Back better?

I had to stop listening to this as the reader kept making errors in his reading and then re-read the same sentence over and over. It was the equivalent of listening to a second grader read aloud. This should be taken off audible.com until it is professionally edited.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I do about 4 books a week so there are many options

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jon D'Amore?

ANYONE

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Boss Always Sits in the Back?

I could not finish this book, or even get to far into it as the reading was so horrible

Any additional comments?

This reading was so awful I will request a refund from Audible.com

Version is unedited

Would you try another book from Jon D'Amore and/or Jon D'Amore?

No

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Boss Always Sits in the Back?

I can't get through it. This version is not edited. He is rereading sentences and making corrections. It was funny the firt time it happened, now it is impossible to listen to.

What didn’t you like about Jon D'Amore’s performance?

Loved his Jersey accent. Hate that the book is not edited.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I don't know

Any additional comments?

Please fix this book. I am sure the author is unaware that you are allowing people to download an unedited version.
