Resumen del Editor

This audiobook truly simplifies the complicated and multifaceted topic of Healthcare IT with all its various niche terms and subjects such as HIPAA, Hospital IT, HITECH, Healthcare Information Technology, HIT, etc.

The overly technical jargon and robotic language has been virtually eliminated so that anyone with an interest in the topic of Health IT will find it easy to listen to and understand the terms being tossed around in the industry today.

This audiobook cuts through the confusion and delivers a powerful explanation in a simplified manner, offering optimized comprehension of this complicated topic. Don't mistake simplification for limited delivery of quality content. This audio covers the hot topics such as: options for encryption of personal health information, best ways to protect patient privacy, HIPAA requirements and compliance, prevention of fraud by healthcare insiders, wireless network security do's and don'ts, and even a section on what we can learn from the Catholic Health System's network and data security.

This audiobook is a crash course on the most common issues hospitals, medical record handlers, and Healthcare IT professionals face on a daily basis. The author structures the topics in a manner that defines the issue and explains the easiest and most effective path from point A to point B, so that the listener can better comprehend the actions necessary for a desirable outcome that both protects the hospital, patient data, and healthcare professionals.

Minimizing risks, cyber security, and patient privacy are at the core of discussions in the healthcare industry. This audiobook offers the express learning bridge that has been missing in the industry until now.

This is only about Healthcare Security

This is only about Healthcare security, nothing more. Clearly the writer is knowledgeable about Healthcare security, that's about it.

Inapt title, poor narration

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No.
1. The content is not what the title is about. Its not about HIPAA, its about measures you take to comply with HIPAA. Also the book simply guides you to the source from where you can get such compliance. Opinion/insight is missing.
2. Narration is extremely poor. Its not a novel that someone can sprint through. Narration is fast (for these kind of topic), is monotonous, and without any impact.

What could James Scott have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Better insight on what HIPAA, Hospital IT, and Healthcare Information Technology is. Hint: Preamble, scope, burden, how we landed here etc.

How could the performance have been better?

Better narration which I believe is the weakest part of this book

Could you see The Book on Healthcare IT being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Absolutely not

Complicated healthcare IT concepts simplifyed

Healthcare IT - covering HIPAA, HITECH, Hospital IT and much more - is explained in a way that even I, an outsider to the industry, got a clear and fast overview and understanding. It’s a good reference book with good structured and organized explanations. A fast introduction to the subject and lingo.

Very difficult to follow in audio format

I had difficulty following this book, especially because of the abundance of headlines, subheadings, and bulleted lists. The narrator was too robotic for me to be able to distinguish between different bullets and headlines.

Audible is not visual

The reader does read too fast for the complexity of the material. There are many acronyms in the work but there would be more continuity if they were used sparingly. A reader can refer back to the meaning of the acronym but this is very inconvenient in this audible medium. It may require a reader that knows the material well with the understanding that the audience does not know it well.

I guess it's good?

I thought this was going to be a plain English book. This is my first attempt to really tackle and understand this topic. Perhaps that is why it felt so jargon-filled. is it good traduction for me but just seems really dry perhaps with reading more material this will eventually make sense but I didn't understand a good chunk of it and feel that I grew only a little bit and my understanding after reading this.

Bad narration!

Narrator spoke too fast, and was horribly monotone. It make the technical material even harder to comprehend. Will have to listen to again just to understand. Could have been a good read otherwise.

Don't waste your money!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The topics in this book are so scattered, I could not listen to it. There is no structure and the person speaking talks really fast.
