Resumen del Editor

Found inside the hidden compartment of a Studebaker, Henry Ward has just stumbled across a very interesting manuscript. Consumed by the daily grind of life, he hopes to find some inspiration. But what he finds instead will lead him into pure madness.

Wow

I only have one thing to say about this book, and that is Wow. The story is engrossing, intense, and full of suspense. The characters are well developed and entertaining. The plot put me in mind of a cross between "The Twilight Zone" and "Night Gallery" it made no sense but made sense if you know what I mean. The narrator did a fabulous job giving the story life and making it a thrill ride I didn't want to get off of. I highly recommend this book. I received this book for free upon my request, but that has no bearing on my honest, unbiased review that I am leaving here voluntarily of my own free will.

Strange

I think I liked the story, but it was a bit strange. Had interesting ideas and was written well. If you want strange, Recommend

Just OK

I like the storyline and I understand where it was going but it was confusing and difficult to follow. I think it may have been better if it was longer so it could be a little more detailed. Overall it’s a decent story and worth listening to, just not one of my favorites. It is thought-provoking which I like.

This book was provided to me free of charge. This review was not required and is my own thoughts.

Blank pages of a manuscript

At first this story made no sense at all but I kept listening. Reminded me of a book that writes your story before it happens. You think about it and it becomes reality in the book you can't go back and erase something because it's already gone. One thing that got me was to call someone on the phone you had to call the operator so am guessing this story started out way before my time. I enjoyed the story and would love to read more by this author

I received this free for an honest review from the author or narrator.

I have a library full of these!

Scarlato is a brilliant narrator, but I am more and more becoming amazed at his writing ability. The book that doesn't exist starts out simply enough, but it soon spirals into a tornado of strange occurances and oddness that creeps slowly into the protagonists life. It all revolves around the simple manuscript that he picked up for a cheap price from a friend.

Scarlato is very careful, and does not tip his hand to the reader as to what is happening. It reminded me of the John Carpenter movie, In the Mouth of Madness. There the protagonist has a slow descent into insanity as he begins to realize what is and what isn't real. The MC here has the same problem, as what he faces things that are both familiar and insubstantial. He faces both the real and the imaginary, and no matter which way he turns he is losing. This is actually a pretty good concept for people who suffer writers block, or a are too lazy to actually do something creative. The story holds your attention, and you will most definately want to see where the mystery of the manuscript leads.

Scollin does a fine job narrating, I personally would have been a little intimidated to take over a narrate the work of another narrator, but he was really good. He conveyed the tenseness and unease of the MC, and made certain that the vibe was always strange no matter what was happening. He did a fine job of doing various voices, too. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Truly thought provoking

The Book that Doesn't Exist took a turn that I never saw coming, and I don't want to spoil the twist. I found the book well written and the narrator was spot on. It just seemed like the ending/resolution was a little rushed.
