Porter Beck's new girlfriend, Detective Charlie Blue Horse, arrives to help with the investigation, which leads them to Canadian Lithium mining operation near the round-up area that sets off Beck's mental alarm bells. Brinley, Beck's sister, is leading a group of troubled kids in a wilderness program, when one of them, Rafa, bolts one night. When Brinley catches up to him, they're just outside the mine—in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

With his personal life in turmoil, too many suspects and too many secrets, the feds pushing for a quick resolution, and his impetuous (if skilled) sister in the mix, one wrong step could be deadly for Porter Beck.

Just so-solid characterisation

I caught the first book in the series, don’t quite know how I got onto it, but I listened and thoroughly enjoyed it and the second one too and this one, too. Not sure there’s mileage in getting a fourth because of the degenerative sight condition and the age of the main character, but it will be interesting to see if the author brings out another set of characters to take us forward. All in all this is what story- telling is about, i.e., telling a story, capturing the audience interest and making the reader care about what happens to the protagonists involved.

Enjoyable Series

Overall, this was a good series.
I wasn't sure about the narrator in the first book, but got used to him eventually.

Great story !!!

My only wish is that the book was longer ! I didn’t want it to end . This author has rapidly become one of my favorites !!! I hope he continues with the same characters.

Amazing third book in the series..,.
Love the characters, setting and taking place in Nevada.
Hoping for book 4 in this series…

Best of the trilogy

Realistic and consistent characters. Nice dialogue. Interesting story. BUT..lots of humans eat horses. Billions of cattle are killed in the US each year. A few wild horses and people care this much? A bit pandering to the PC folks.

Promise that petered out

The description and characters sounded great. The actual writing and character arc just gave out.
