Acerca de esta escucha
Poison. Power. Peril.
Discover the Dark Side of the Decade That Roared. What killed the infamous flapper Rosalie Frazier? And was gay speakeasy owner Dash Parker’s booze to blame?
These are the burning questions in Dash’s mind as he is forced to team up with an unusual, unpredictable gangster and investigate the deadlier side of Prohibition. Sinister mob men with hidden motives. A pair of seedy Times Square roommates hoping for a financial windfall. A shattered family full of bitterness and spite. And at the center, a young woman who loved coded messages and uncovering secrets.
Unlikely partners. Unimaginable lovers. Unseen adversaries. And Dash must discover who is who or he’ll disappear forever in the darkness . . .
The Blind Tiger is the second novel in the Hidden Gotham series, which started with the acclaimed The Double Vice, a novel Queer Writers of Crime called "One of the best I've read all year!"
©2022 Chris Holcombe (P)2024 Chris HolcombeNot to mention the fact I'm always starving for queer stories that features queer folks as well rounded characters just living life.
the time and effort spent on research shows and shines. the more anachronistic bits mesh perfectly and add delightful spice.
The author does such a good job narrating. But the volume of audio can be inconsistent and occasionally needs turning up or down. I'm no expert but maybe either consistent mic distance or gain presets would help. because the rest of the time it's A+
a few sections have plosive esses that peak audio and can be uncomfortable for headphones. it's a signature of the author/narrators accent though and I'd hate to see that go away, so some creative editing might be the best solution.
however these are minor technical complaints and this story, as well as the author's performance, are vary worth baring with those technical complaints.
each book gets better and I'm listening to book 3 as we speak.
Take the plung on Hidden Gotham and your mystery loving heart won't be disappointed.
Great Mystery
