Resumen del Editor

Although book 4 is part of the Black Guard series, it can be listened to as a stand-alone novel.

Outpost and their allies, Lariw and Valhall, are close to solidifying the Helix Alliance, their first step in achieving their decades-old goal of annihilating Jax.

The Alliance, which Jax refuses to join, will allow the Outpost led alliance navy to hassle Jax's merchants with the intention of eventually provoking an incident that will lead to war–a war Jax cannot win against a larger alliance navy. A nightmare scenario, since Outpost secretly intends to commit genocide against Jax.

The Jax Military Committee decides to sends General Noam, their most innovative member, on a sabbatical to devote his efforts to finding a solution to their dilemma. He returns two years later with a radical idea–but can it be developed in time, can it be kept a secret, can the Jax navy adjust, and most important, will it work?

It's an all-or-nothing--survive or perish--gambit.

Youth isn’t wasted on the young

I hope that the majority of the readers of this energetic, imaginative book recognize the saying in my title of this review. That would prove to me that an idealized plot applies to all ages! The Black Guardians is one of those delightful books that doesn’t overtax the brain with character development, urban building, social commentary, or any other phrase used by “serious” critics. This book is fun, sleep depriving, and just what is needed by the sci fi buff who doesn’t want to listen to another end of the world or how the end is achieved. (I never once had to go to my translation book to look up EMP, SCAT, or any of the hundreds of alphabet “words” ). I highly recommend.
