The story has all the requisite elements: suspense, detective work, good knowledge of subject both crime and setting. Great characters and the audio books have always superb storytelling.

The author never fails to write a great story.

Carla Neggers tends to being longwinded but in "The Angel" she uses it to to unwind a STORY such as storytellers tell. Very nice. I don't read for terror or horror. I read for stories that take me on an adventure. I liked it ;)
