Resumen del Editor

Sean Waters is down on his luck, thanks to the economy, and winds up working for his domineering father's car dealership. It's not the greatest job, but it's a paycheck. The only problem? He's got a wicked crush on the general manager, Jackson Rayburn.

When Jackson suggests a drive in one of the brand new sports cars, Sean has no idea it's not the car Jackson really wants to take for a spin.

They both need this job, though, and the boss isn't keen on employees getting involved with each other. But it's just a lusty little crush anyway, so they can move on and pretend nothing ever happened.

Can't they?

I love a good short story.

Test Drive is a pretty hot short story and I really enjoyed listening to it. Michael Ferraiuolo is one of my favorite audiobook performers and L.A. Witt is one of my favorite authors. Together the two of them make audiobook magic!

If you read the blurb there's not a lot more I can say about the story. It has some pretty hot moments and two men who are willing to give up a lot to see where their relationship goes. It was a great way to spend a little time this evening.

Hot short story good narration

Sean ends up out of work in the latest recession, so he finds himself working for his father – a job he swore he’d never do. One of the things that makes his job so tough is that he has to work with Jackson, an older man who has worked for his father for years and whom Sean has had a crush on for as many years as he can remember.

One night Jackson invites Sean on a “test drive” of the latest convertible. One thing leads to another and the two end up having the hottest sex they’ve each ever had.

But… they can’t be together and still work for Sean’s dad. So… do they try things out and live on the down low? Do they one or both of them quit their only surefire job to test a new relationship? Do they give up on a hopeless situation?

**

This short little story is full of hot moments and some tender hopeful expectations.

In the end they gamble and win and we end up with a very satisfying HFN.

Audio

I didn’t love the narrator but he did a fair job. At times he just sounded a bit too cheesy and not comfortable with his roles. As the narration went along he got better, but at first he was very rushed and spoke very quickly.

I loved the short story and enjoyed the narration and for both I give it 4.5 of 5 stars.

It was fun

It was a nice book. It was fun and hot but I didn’t feel like there was too much connection between the main characters or that I really got to know them too well. I still liked it and I have a great time with it. It was short and that was exactly what I was looking for, I guess the length wouldn’t permit it to be a little more complicated than it was, but it was very entertaining.

I did have a little issues with the narration, I felt like it was difficult to understand the change of characters, the voices seem too alike and became confusing at times. The narration itself was good and I enjoyed it, but the dialogs were the ones that were bothersome.

Overall it was enjoyable and a great choice for someone looking for a short fun read without a lot of angst.

Mature work romance

Overall, this was more like a 2.75 for me.

I liked that this story had older main characters. Sean was in his 30s. And with reference to a midlife crisis, Jackson was also in his 30s or older. So they also dealt with some real life issues, which was a nice change. And both Sean and Jackson were really likeable, but there were a small number of times that they behaved younger than their biological age. But I guess that's part of the issue, and a behavior all older people can relate too. Sometimes we just want what we want and want to let go of control. I guess we don't ever outgrow that. Unfortunately, it might have been this aspect that resulted in me not feeling any chemistry between them and, thus, not really caring whether they got a HEA or not, even though I liked them. Apparently I think I just would've liked them more if they were partnered with someone else.
There were at least 2 quick sex scenes with a small bit of steam. But everything seemed to be too fast. I don't know if it's the way the narrator portrayed the story or what, but I always wanted a bit more. I guess that's why I also wasn't invested in them getting tighter and saw nothing meaningful between them. The end was realistic but, after everything, a major part of the angst came together a bit too easily.
