S. E. England
Following the hypnosis of a violently disturbed psychiatric patient, Ruby Dean, an unholy dark force was unleashed on the medical staff who tried to help her. Now only one of the original team remains - Ward Sister, Becky. Despite her fiancé, D.I. Ross, being unconscious and many of her colleagues either dead or critically ill, Becky is determined to rescue Ruby's 12-year-old daughter from a similar fate to that of her mother.
But no one asking questions in the desolate mining village Ruby descends from ever comes to a good end. And as the diabolical history of the area is gradually revealed, it seems the evil invoked is now both real and contagious.
Don't turn the lights out yet!

I LOVE Sarah England! After this sequel, she has become my favorite author of contemporary horror novels. I cannot believe how exquisitely well-written this book is and the flawless meneuvering between points of view is incredible. A lot of sequels (no matter the genre) tend to lag a little in the middle and I'm happy to say that 'Tanner's Dell' is just as amazing as 'Father of Lies.' This book also takes the scary and fear-inducing story of the first book and cranks it up even more. In my review for 'Father of Lies,' I compared the horror factor of England's books to the real life stories of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Conjuring movies AND a ton of books written about them). Honestly, 'Tanner's Dell' is scarier than anything I've read about the Warrens and that is saying something, since the Warrens are real people.
If you liked, enjoyed, or loved the first book (or you like horror), READ THIS. It is one of the most incredible voices to come out of the horror genres. Also, I know I will get a lot of "non-helpful" votes, because people tend to press that button when they don't agree, but throw Stephen King in the garbage and read a real scary book.
A+ for the story and an A+ for the performance. I know that I said that I wasn't a huge fan of Ms. Meire in the last book, but she really does tell the story beautifully in this one.

This series takes place in a small English village and surrounding areas. It follows a mentally ill woman who has been ritually abused by satanists and is in a psychiatric unit. The nurse and doctor who care for her investigate her town and what is happening their and find many satanic forces, including people in high standing and in leadership positions.
Who can they trust?
Now a preteen young girl is in danger of being sacrificed in a ritual on her upcoming birthday and the small group of healthcare workers and detectives will try and put a stop to all this abuse.
The narrator does a good job at creating different voices for the characters and reading this story. She reads pretty quickly, sometimes I have to speed up a narrator because they read to slow for me, but this narrator reads at a perfect speed for me.
The final book just came out and will be on audio in January from what I have heard. I really liked both these books and I highly recommend them.
A dark horror series well worth your time.

*******warning; Book content discussed******
The story's content is very unsettling due to the subject matter. Some people may be disturbed because the book centers around severe sexual abuse and the catholic church's long-standing history of pedophilia among their elders. It focuses on satanic butchering and rape of babies, children and women as well as worshipping Lucifer for personal selfish sicking yet blind self gain. This is unfortunately not far from the truth making this book truly frightening and real. I found myself looking in the dark of my bedroom for slight movements in the dark. Noises that were unfamiliar to my ears as walked to the bathroom, pulling my covers up close around my neck so I would not feel the slight breeze from my fan blowing on my neck. The author has managed to touch you in a way you will not soon forget In this 3 part trilogy of hate, lust, Godlessness, the cost of blind faith and overwhelming loss.
Unsettling and thought-provoking
