Stefan Hamilton doesn’t do "outdoorsy". He’s a city boy, born and bred. The closest Stef gets to the country is "Cowboy Night" at his favourite Auckland gay bar, even if the music makes Stef want to rip his hair out by the roots.

But Stef is also a hardcore Lord of the Rings fanboy. So, when he gets the chance to go on a horse trek to the iconic film locations in the Southern Alps, he sucks up his fear of the gigantic animals and his allergy to camping for the chance to let his nerd flag fly. But when his mate pulls out at the last minute, Stef is left to negotiate the horses, the wrath of mother nature, and an inconvenient crush on the cowboy leading the tour.

City meets country, and the sparks fly.

Had it's moments

So I liked the general story of it... the city guy meets the cowboy, and the suspense part was honestly pretty dang good. But Stef was just overdone and inconsistent...he was depicted as this guy who could attract any guy, but he's super fem and even mentions he's what most guys on apps aren't looking for. Honestly, that wasn't his biggest issue, it was the over the top obnoxious attitude that began to get grating and made it not believable this sexy 6'6 cowboy (Cass) would be so attracted to him. Having said that, always enjoy Gary, and after losing interest halfway through, I ended up enjoying it.

A wonderful performance to one of my favorite romance stories by Jay. All the good feels and a top rated production. All the stars.

Good story

I liked this book. Good storyline, nice and descriptive of environment, and we get some interaction with characters from book 1. Gary Furlong 🥰😍, my absolute favorite narrator, did a great job as usual! The only negative I found was that either it was him speaking really fast in the New Zealand accent, or he misspoke in some of the scenes, but it sounded like he said "she/her" when it should have been "he/him". It was so distracting that I had to go to my Kindle and read those sections. It was definitely correct there, so maybe it's just my old ears lol. Regardless, he still did a wonderful job!
