Resumen del Editor

A Texas lawman comes face to face with his past and meets the future: his son....

First someone tries to kill him. Then an achingly familiar beauty from his past drops the bombshell of a lifetime: He has a son. Two years ago Sheriff Jericho Crockett's attraction to Laurel Tate became a brief but intense affair - until an unsolved murder made them enemies. Now, with their son's life hanging in the balance, the Texas lawman must put aside the pain of Laurel's long-held secret in order to keep the little boy safe. But as working together causes powerful feelings to resurface, Jericho isn't about to walk away from being a father to his son...and maybe even a husband.

Great story...

Another great story in the Appaloosa Pass Ranch series. The characters in this book are just as loveable, and at times infuriating, as those in the first book. Jericho is a great man and I instantly liked him from the first story. His love and relationship with Laurel, love that name btw, is one full of heartbreak and betrayal, but it's also full of love and plenty of heat. The journey they have to face in this story is one that is edge-of-your-seat suspenseful, heartbreaking, and still breathtaking. I can't wait to catch up with the entire Crocket extended family in the next book.

The narration could use some work. The narrator's female voices are good, but her male voices good use a bit of tweaking. All the men sound like they are drugged and that's why they all talk so slow.

Other than that, great listen.

Narration is awful

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If it's re-recorded it has a chance, the male voicing was flat with no inflections.

Has Taking Aim at the Sheriff turned you off from other books in this genre?

Narration, not the genre I listened to the story for 2 hours and just gave up

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Flat voicing of lead male character

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

story, read the book I promise it's got to be better

Rather Simple, Rather Silly G-Rated Pseudo-Western

This is your typical Harlequin white bread story. The action and motives are a bit unbelievable, and the characters are caricatures (female lead “I haven’t been with anyone else since that fateful night years ago when we conceived our child despite using a condom”, perpetually scowling glaring alpha male remaining silent about his abstinence or promiscuity during the intervening years...). Most annoying thing was the narration for the leading man... his slow drawl sounded incredibly dopey. There was nothing spicier language than a “Hell!” dropped in there, and the murderous characters were goons and morons 😂. Much fanfare and distress over a few kisses... and then, an unexpectedly explicit sex scene! I didn’t see that coming, with all the shucks and gosh language. But, you get your HEA without a lot of annoying character insight or development. I guess it’s good they kinda like each other outside the bedroom.
