Not bad, but not my thing.

I love Shane’s narrations, so it’s a given I’ll take a listen to whatever he does. Carly isn’t bad, but I found some of my issues with this novella was that her voice felt too young for her character to Shane’s feeling too old for his age. It almost felt like an older teen with a 50ish man instead of a young woman with a 40ish one. It’s a significant difference for me.

Narrator was AMAZING, plot was awesome too!

The plot of this book and the writing were both exceptional, but the narration was what made it worth it's weight in gold. I was absolutely enthralled by this woman's narration. I imagined reading some of these words on paper or hearing some of my favorite female narrators speak the same words, and none of them did as much justice as Carly did. At first I thought "ugh a little TOO bubbly for me" but the more I learned about the character, the more they matched perfectly while still managing to make her sound clever rather than airheaded. She had a way of making the funny passages funnier, making me laugh several times throughout the story and grinning like a moron. I'm not used to that, I'm more used to angst and anger as I listen to romances because the characters make idiotic decisions.. but not this book. Carly did such a great job, definitely going to seek her out again. I don't know that I've ever heard her in a different character archetype but she sure does an excellent job at this. The dynamic between the characters was cute and reminded me of a past relationship with a guy ten years my senior that I also called "old man" back in the day, so I guess that means it's pretty realistic? Who knows but I thoroughly enjoyed it, definitely worth spending a credit on. By the way, this is a 2 books series I think so beware of that.

Hot hot book

Liked the book but the book was just to short would have liked just a little more

What did I miss...?

A little hard to get into since it felt like the middle of another book. It seems like there is a back story that never comes out and so many unresolved questions and disjointed characters.
The performance left a bit to be desired but tolerable.
Credit for not being totally predictable.

Smoking hot

The sex scenes in this book are out of control good. The storyline is good too but whew...... can I just take a moment to recognize the art by which this author describes sex.

Great story, but short

I love the story, but it felt like a prequel instead of an entire book. I listened to this free through Audible Escape, but would have been upset if I’d used a credit. Also, I don’t like this female narrator. I like the male narrator, but he doesn’t do a good female voice.

Great story... could have kept going

I really enjoyed this story but I could have seen it going much further. Kinda leaves you heartbroken in the end.

Enjoyed!!! Except for Carly’s voice

Carly’s voice was so awful!! I almost gave up on the book. I will not listen to her in the future

Age ain’t nothing but a number

Who says a woman can’t date an older man? I think that Shane’s voice just set you on fire Brit lord have mercy. I love this book and hope that it continues into the next one...onto my next book. Laurelin you did your thing as usual...
