Great story- loved the characters the narration was wonderful ! Loved the different twists along the way ! Really enjoyed this book!

The Performance Ruins the Book

After listening to the book, I decided to finish it on Kindle. The narration of the brother absolutely ruined it on Audible. He sounded like a stuffy elderly man with a British accent.

Meh

I was hoping this would be a series I could enjoy easily and pass some time. Unfortunately the characters are all just overbearingly obnoxious. The main character has zero backbone and makes stupid decisions and is infuriating loyal to a stupid cause. At least give her a few redeeming qualities. The love interest is a sad sack pining away with unrequited love that suddenly isn’t unrequited after years and years? Where’s the build up? The brother is obnoxious and wholly unlikeable and the parents are even more despicable. There really isn’t any depth to any of the characters. Maybe they grow. I don’t know because I quit listening. Give me a strong female lead and some depth.

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful romance. The characters are enchanting and I look forward to the next one in this series. Happy reading 📚!

Wonderful Tale of Love, Forgiveness and Family

This story is wonderful. You'll experience a roller coaster of emotions: from sorrow to joy, crying and laughing, rooting for Daniel and Linni, hooting with laughter at the sirens, and everything in-between.

My frustration was with the narrator. The wasn't much difference in the voices of Linni and Jayden in particular. So when they're having a conversation, it's very difficult to figure out who's speaking. This is particularly true in the beginning as you are learning each character. Once you get a good feel for the characters, you can figure out who's talking. Personally, I found Freddie's voice quite annoying.

Another problem I struggled with was differentiating when a character was speaking internally or to another character. Most readers will either speak softer or have a slight difference to clue the listener to an internal vs. external dialog. Not really in this story.

For these reasons, I wish I had this book also in e-print so I could have followed along better...or at least re-read some parts so I had a better understanding of the storyline at the beginning.

Just didn’t do it for me. And the voices of the brother and the rich matron. How affected can you be. Plus, I really didn’t like the mother and I really didn’t like the father. Only just barely got through this book.

The writing is good but I just couldn't get into the story.

Not Bad

The heroine was a b*tch. She wasn't very likeable. It made it hard to care about her problems.

The narrator sometimes gets her male and female voices mixed up.

On the whole it wasn't bad. 3 stars despite the deficiencies.

Great Start to a New Series!

This is the first book I have read by Christine Nolfi and it won't be the last. I loved Sweet Lake and can't wait for the next book. This town drew me in from the first page and didn't let go. The Sweet Lake Sirens had me laughing out loud and I can not wait to find out more about this crazy group of women.
