Resumen del Editor

"While exploring the evidence for an afterlife, I witnessed some unbelievable things that are not supposed to be possible in our material world. Yet they were unavoidably and undeniably real. Despite my initial doubt, I came to realize that there are still aspects of nature which are neither understood or accepted, even though their reality has profound implications for understanding the true breadth of the human psyche and its possible continuity after death."

So begins Leslie Kean's impeccably researched investigation, revealing stunning and wide-ranging evidence suggesting that consciousness survives death. In her groundbreaking second book, she continues her examination of unexplained phenomena that began with her provocative New York Times best seller UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record.

Kean explores the most compelling case studies of young children reporting verifiable details from past lives, contemporary mediums who seem to defy the boundaries of the brain and of the physical world, apparitions providing information about their lives on earth, and people who die and then come back to report journeys into another dimension. Based on facts and scientific studies, Surviving Death includes fascinating chapters by medical doctors, psychiatrists, and PhDs from four countries.

As a seasoned journalist whose work transcends belief systems and ideology, Kean enriches the narrative by including her own unexpected, confounding experiences encountered while she probed the question concerning all of us: Do we survive death?

Fascinating

Fascinating information. Leslie has clearly done extensive research. I really enjoyed the personal stories. At times, I was overwhelmed with the science and data. Leslie recognizes this, which I appreciate. Highly recommend if you are interested in reincarnation or mediums.

Riveting, well researched

Surviving death, the book, has so much more information than the excellent series on Netflix. I saw the series and I’ve just listened to the book I do past life regression‘s for a living, so I don’t need to be convinced.

When my husband died, he came back to me, and chatted to me for more than a year. It was a very uncomfortable situation!

I wrote a book about it, Live From Both Sides, the book got published by Findhorn.

But very few people have been able to read it. It takes a lot of advertising.

I’m so pleases that so many more people will get to read this fine book and open up to the reality of life after death,

I also loved Leslie’s other book on UFOs. Her clear, concise, well researched writing makes the seemingly impossible understandable.

For Open Minded Skeptics

I'll admit that as I get older I increasingly hope that we survive death. But I also believe that all the hope in the world will not make what I want to be so if it isn't. I listened to this book with that framework and little background in the life after death debate. I found this to be an excellent survey of evidence of, and arguments for, surviving death. The arguments are clearly and objectively described, and the evidence well documented. Each chapter provides a few of the best documented and vetted examples of phenomenon that suggests we survive death, such as near death experiences, communications with the deceased, etc,. Following the examples there is a rigorous discussion of what we can and cannot conclude from these phenomenon. I highly recommend it to anyone who is curious but demanding of analytical rigor. I must admit, I'm a bit less skeptical for the reading.

An excellent, journalistic addition to the field

If you could sum up Surviving Death in three words, what would they be?

Refreshing, original, and thorough.

What did you like best about this story?

Kean approaches this topic with all the journalistic rigor that she applied to her UFO research, and it's exactly the kind of reportage this field desperately needs but is lacking. Though she does recount some well-established cases, Kean brings much fresh insight and personal research to the topic instead of just rehashing old evidence like so many other books often do. I've read most of the literature on the topic, and was surprised to learn something new, which is precisely why this book deserves to be read by those who think they're current in their understanding.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is where the audiobook fails to deliver. While the idea of having guest writers pen the core chapters is a fun idea, not all of the writers are equally skilled, and this shortcoming is compounded by having guest "actors" perform the chapters, which rarely works in an audiobook format. Many of the narrators affect silly accents, and that just makes the discrepancy in story-telling all the worse. Kean does a great job of reading her stuff; she should have read the whole thing.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Chapters 12 and 13 are particularly compelling.

Any additional comments?

The silly accents aren't a deal breaker. Compared to many of the audible titles that are narrated by 3rd parties, this book is better than most. If you looked at the negative comments on Audible, you'd see that 80% or more have to do with poor narration. It's ironic since this is the most essential component of an audiobook! Yet Audible has such poor quality control in this respect, and just don't get it.

This Book will Change Your Worldview

There is so much material in this book! I had to read it twice, and when I finished I was tempted to start it for a third time. Nobody dives into a subject like Leslie Kean!
