James McGill is sent to the Core Worlds!

In an unprecedented first, Earth sends a message to Mogwa Prime. Unfortunately, the messenger is not met with enthusiasm. Misunderstandings soon threaten all of Humanity. Forced to prove Earth can serve the Empire better than any rival, McGill does his best.

Eager to prove our worth to the Galactics, the frontier war between Rigel and Earth is expanded to Storm World. Circled by six moons, the planet is ravaged by wild storms and tides. Battles are fought in raging hurricanes, and death stalks the soldiers on both sides.

McGill grimly fights and dies in the mud until the job gets done, but will it be enough to satisfy the angry Mogwa?

Every time a new one comes out I snap it up immediately and put it at the top of my listening queue. Mark Boyett is masterful in his performance. He makes you love the ones you are supposed to and revile those that deserve it, above and beyond Lawson’s excellent writing. He is right up there with RC Bray and Ray Porter as the masters of bringing the stories to life for those of us who spend long hours on the road.

I can hardy await the next installment on this epic and ever developing adventure following our favorite scoundrel, McGill!

Gotta Love Ok’ James McGill!

Spoiler alert....... Claver over and over again. In the whole of this fictional universe, there seems to be only one rival for our hero James. I really love this series, but I’m sick of it revolving around Claver over and over. It’s a big galaxy, invent a new threat please. This book is such a rehash if previous moments. There really is nothing new at all in it.

Great narration, plot is dull and predictable.

I have loved all these books. they're great and keep getting better. The story of a slacker turned galactic mercenary. fun and dark stories that don't try to be something they're not, it's just good fun.

just good fun.

I’ve listened to every book in the series and will continue to do so if more are published. You can certainly find more technical or intellectual science fiction. This isn’t that. This is about character- and I love these characters. It’s just great escapist, raucous fun. And the narrator is amongst the best I’ve heard. His accents are second to none and you just end up listening to the cast of characters. The lead character is a scoundrel with a heart from Georgia (with a southern twang.) And the whole cast including the aliens are so 3D and well known to me, distinctive in deed and voice (thanks to the narrator,) I can’t wait for the next one! Very entertaining.

Love the whole series

I've listened to each book in the series multiple times through Audible. I really enjoy the series. a lot of laughs throughout the story. if you're listening to Audible through your headphones at work you will understand when I say that I get weird looks for spontaneously busting out in laughter while listening to a funny story.

best book in the series but I love them all.
