Being an Italian that lives abroad, a single mother and a wanna be writer this book went straight to my heart: the expressions of my childhood, how people act in the south, family, mothers, the history. I am in mourning and will miss this book, this story and the voice of Anna Bonaiuto that felt like she was speaking to me personally for hours.

Impetuous

A story of a friendship on the background of the history of Italy seen from Naples. There is much truth in this clever invention. Too much truth. Too much beauty. Good and evil.

An emotional rollercoaster!

Loved it. Raw emotion. Love, hate, betrayal, jealousy all tangled together and uniting the characters in an backdrop of the tumultuous decades in Italy, and especially poignant in the south where all the primal senses are heightened to the ultimate extreme of good and evil.

Beautifully written, real, raw

The entire series us just magnificent. There is an unexpected turn every once in a while that sends the whole story in another direction, but it is all so very coherent, loyal to the characters. The way Napoli and its culture stands out and is a protagonist is beautifully done. What a fantastic writer and what an amazing, heartfelt story of a lifetime of such intriguing and deep characters.
