Resumen del Editor

Decluttering our homes can be difficult.

Letting go of things can be challenging.

Living with less seems impossible.

With wit and tough love, Stop Buying Bins seeks to break down the obstacles that tether us to our possessions. Why do we hold onto belongings that no longer serve us? How do we change our perspective regarding our things? And once we've tackled those questions, how do we go about actually downsizing our clutter?

Told through individual client stories, Stop Buying Bins reveals the personality traits that create resistance to letting go, flips the switch on assigning value to objects, and provides step-by-step instructions on how to decide what goes and what to do with it.

Stop Buying Bins will have you coming to terms with some hard truths about your stuff as you realize you'll enjoy what you have more if you have less.

Good advice for procrastinators, with some humor

The author is a professional home organizer and this short book is full of practical tips for downsizing your belongings and efficiently managing your everyday life. What I found especially helpful was the advice on how to get motivated to begin large projects (for example: in the smallest room, and only for half an hour) and let your success help build momentum.

The use of scenarios from the author's own business personalized the information and kept my interest. In some cases her clients were so disorganized that their mental health was suffering.

I enjoyed the tone of the book which, while mostly serious, was often humorous, especially in the dialogue between the author and her clients. The narrator was excellent, and portrayed the various tones appropriately. This made for a very enjoyable listening experience.

Great information and practical solutions, but...

While this book had a lot of practical and useful ideas and solutions that I can definitely see myself using throughout my downsizing, I did find a bit too much frilly, background storytelling of different scenarios. It almost seemed to be excessive, judgy, and mostly unnecessary.
I also found the narrator to be a downside. To me, the narrator's voice was irritating and overly dramatizing. She tried to imitate "voices" when conveying conversation passages, making for a very condescending almost scolding manner. This aspect made listening to this selection very tedious.
